One of the greatest films of all time. Sad that it has been forgotten.

Tennis Universe it still has a loyal following. And it’s sad not many people know about it, but those who do know how much of a gem it is.

If they aired it a bit more on TV., it would help. It's probably fallen foul of the PC shitheads now. 🤬

Not forgotten by me. It came out in the middle of my time at public school. I saw it several times in the ABC Whiteladies through a haze of No 6 smoke.

Eu gosto desse filme porque mostra como muitas instituições de ensino não estão realmente empenhadas em ensinar, o objetivo é controlar e punir se necessário. Acho que esse filme merecia mais atenção

When people ask me about my school days I refer them to this film as, apart from the ending, it pretty well summed up my school. The teachers and prefects were pretty similar just as the day-to-day discipline was left to the prefects leaving the head master to administer 6 / 12 of the Caine as he felt fit. The school was linked to the local Army cadets so there was plenty of shooting practice. Brilliant film that captured a lot of the reality of school days in the 1960's Lots of "punishments" handed out for the wrong reasons but off-set by the far more numerous occasions when we were not caught breaking the rules.

“ If...” Great British movie by Lindsay Anderson...probably providing the template for the thousands of school shootings in America since 1968. Watch the movie...see Columbine..?
@kateeigs64575 жыл бұрын
Now, now. That can't be the case at all. Firstly, this movie is British and made in the 1960s. School shooters usually watch gory movies such as natural born killers. This is, in no way, a cause of shootings.
@geoffpoole4834 жыл бұрын
Doubt any of those high school shooters ever watched this film. Nor did you.

Pretty sure the people who are behind those horrible events don’t have the taste, the IQ or even just the knowing of a Lindsay Anderson movie from 50 years ago

Verdi Lowe about fifteen Americans have heard of this film. But it’s a true masterpiece of cinema.
@susanhammack31583 жыл бұрын
Agree that none of the columbine shooters or later ever heard of the movie, and Whitman (first school shooting 1966, univ of texas austin). I saw it when it came out in 68. Incredible. All across university land we bought the soundtrack. I still have my LP. Out of print. Sad.
