In this video, I'll show you how to make your own Sand Cement Mouldings.
This was my second time so I can't say I'm an expert but I'll show you essential tips on making your own mouldings from scratch. The only materials I used was sand, cement and water.
I did this from scratch and you can watch me from beginning to end. It's only a little sample version but it's enough to get an idea on how it's made. These mouldings are often seen as ornate decoration around windows and columns.
I'd love to hear from you and any advice would be greatly appreciated since I'm new to this. For more information on plastering visit our website at:

Thanks for watching and I'll see you on the next one.
Cheers,
Blaine

Hi mate, would it not be easier and quicker to just cut the shape into a flat bit of plastic and pull it over a pile of wetter cement, filling in any hollows and repeating the process? Keep up the great videos tho mate. Plastered my whole house after watching you 👍

Superb videos 🙂.... I have watched foreign guys making intricate designs and always wondered what was the dry powder is that they apply between layers. From watching this I see that it is ordinary cement. Can you please explain what this does to the project and does it weaken the item? how often do you apply? could you use this process for making window bands / sills ?.....keep up the great videos...🙂

I have a few questions. I am probably as beginner as they get. What type of table surface are you working on? does the decorative piece come off easy once dried? Now for the most embarrassing question. How do you attach the piece to your window or another surface after making them?

Those girls putting the concrete on grade as close as they do is a HUGE plus. They're good. Also, breathing the release agent is ok?

Hi mate, about to skim a wall at home 9m2. Coverage of a bag say 10m2, is that 2 coats or one coat? Do I mix 3 quarters then the rest for second coat or do I need to mix another bag for second coat? Sorry for long question but obviously cant nip out for more so dont want to waste it.
@davidkelleher7386
@davidkelleher7386 4 жыл бұрын
Robert Potter ...mix the whole bag at once and you’ll get 2 coats out of that mix.

Blaine you could make a jig out of mdf any shape then get some perspex heat then shape over wood jig. Just an idea plenty gear then run over.

Hi, please could you tell me the ratio of Sand and cement you use? And how long did you need to keep the moulding to dry out? I’m thinking of doing exactly why you have demonstrated. Thank you!

Burnt cement is black and speeds setting time , much like rapid / fondu etc and could explain dark appearance . Cement is cooked lime , so called experts insist on no cement, just lime , and show their ignorance
