Videos taken on April 16th along the far south section of the Riverwalk in Columbus Georgia just outside Fort Benning. When I first lived in Columbus years ago I was naive enough to think there were only alligators in southern Florida. I was wrong. Co-workers from the area set me straight real fast on that subject by taking me to a few local lakes where I saw them first hand. Even caught a couple smaller ones. The biggest I saw was three feet or so. I don't think the locals let them get any bigger. Kind of reminded me of how large families of snapping turtles hung out in their habitat up in Minnesota when I was younger. This is a beautiful area and a great resource. Columbus started construction on the 15 mile Historic Riverwalk project back in 1989. And it is beautifully maintained. I was impressed.
