Fort Benning Georgia

This is a series of videos I took in April 2009 at Fort Benning Georgia. I was stationed here for a while at the 177th Aviation Helicopter Company for OJT just before being sent to southeast Asia(RVN) years ago. Lost a few friends over there. Fort Benning has changed a lot but a lot remains just as I remembered It. It was a real blast out of the past to say the least. My old barracks are still there.

ft, benning is the home of Audie Murphy, Sgt. York , and many more medal of honor recipients.all training related to Infantry has to come through Benning.we are ground pounders,grunts,and dog faces and we are THE QUEEN OF BATTLES.no one has shed more blood than the infantry in defence of the U.S.A.

Fort Benning was also called “ The Mother in Law of the Army” as many Columbus girls married Young officers and Soldiers stationed there. My Ancestors had plantations on the property that became Fort Benning …..many of them are buried there. I married a West Point graduate who was stationed at Benning and became an Army Wife.

I grew up here and you uploaded this the year i moved away, thanks for sharing this, its impossible to find pictures to jog the memories. It really was a wonderful place to grow up.

My Dad was with the Bradley Net Team, set up the Master Gunner Program, UCOFT. In fact he had to convince Congress and the Senate to buy it. He was the NCOIC on the Bradley Fighting Vehicle. He was also on 60 Minutes although they creatively edited over 100 hundreds of film down to just a few minutes and did a hatchet job with their editing. Then he was a Drill Sargent for 3 years at Benning at at the Harmony Church in the old WWII white painted wooden building. He spent some time with the School of the Americas as well. So I know Ft. Benning like the back of my hand. I worked out at Santiago Field House. Thanks for your service and for the video it brought back a lot of memories. I watched a lot of youth football games in that stadium.

Good luck with whatever you wind up doing. Think positive. You should like Ft. Benning. I went to basic training in Ft. Lewis Washington. AIT in Ft. Eustis Virginia. I was trained to be a Chinook Helicopter Mechanic/ Crew Chief. Had some armorer training in Benning before orders to Vietnam. If you wind up going somewhere in a combat situation I will give you some good advise other Veterans with first hand experience gave me before I left. "Keep low and try not to look too important."

Did same in 70 for same reason,72 Eng.Kelly Hill. want to go back,maybe this fall.Did go to sons basic graduation 2013. later got my M.O.S.I enlisted for 35-L back on Kelly 179th M.I.-Counter

I have a love/hate relationship with that place. I was stationed there from 2006 to 2008, before I was medically discharged for injuries suffered in combat.
