During basic training I read and memorized the entire section on UCMJ (Unified Code of Military Justice). I used to know every code, but forgot. What I do recall vividly is the SPIRIT of the text. There's one UCMJ code that makes it a "crime" to accuse an officer of something without "physical proof". I found that to be abusive in itself. I also wondered why they had different UCMJ codes for officers enlisted members like myself. It's a CASTE system! The bar for accusing officers is much higher.

The US military should be put on trial for lying to its recruits. They promise college tuition, money, a good future, but in the end, after all the physical abuse, and if you're unlucky enough, to be sexually assaulted like the Fort Hood soldier murdered on base, many leave the military early and with nothing! This is why there is such a huge suicide rate amongst veterans! Put the us military on trial for lying to the people who serve it, and maltreatment of soldiers. I also am a victim of military abuse and understand this problem more than people on the outside, those lucky enough to have got that fullride to college, or that good job, that swerved them away from service. I rest my case.

I had the displeasure of serving at Ft Hood in the 90s. Previously I had been in the 1st Ranger Battalion. The first thing my CO said when I reported to him was " That Ranger discipline thing won't work here." For the most part, the Ranger standards that we embody are just Army standards. Any unit that truly meets simple Army standards will be an elite unit if everyone actually cares about being a good soldier. This stuff is all taught in basic training, it's not advanced stuff. But the absolutely worst part was THE NCO corps. That's right sergeant, I know that just pisses you off. It started with the division CSMs and went all the way down to E5. The amount of sniveling, whining, crying, from them from top to bottom was amazing. It was like pulling teeth to get them to anything hard, or in fact, soldierly. Of course this behavior was always in front of the troops so the lack of discipline and just basic crappiness perpetuates itself. The hardest working people at Ft Hood are O1, and O2 rank. That's right I said it. The E9s, from what I saw, were just step-and-fetchers for their generals and colonels. E8s and E7s spent most of their time being offended and searching their feelings (in front of the troops of course). I tried my best to nurture the kids that really showed potential and actually wanted to be soldiers in hopes that they wouldn't get ruined by this horrible base and useless NCOs corp there. I was hoping that the post 9-11 Ft Hood had gotten it's act together, but apparently it hasn't. I saw and worked with some truly amazing people there, but unfortunately that was the the exception. On the whole, my first CO was correct. That discipline "stuff" doesn't work there. The lack of discipline at Ft Hood led to these soldiers' deaths. SEE BELOW TO SEE NCO WHINING.

@vestspet42424 жыл бұрын
The first step that needs to be done is to prohibit the use of moral waivers for new recruits. When I enlisted and went to MP basic training/AIT in Fort Leonard Wood, MO there were a dozen trainees in my class who had criminal records, including three recruits who had been convicted of felonies. And this is the Military version of the police. They all entered the military with moral waivers and were from areas with low recruiting numbers. I enlisted before 9/11. So, I'm sure there are a lot more servicemembers with moral waivers now because of a larger demand for fresh bodies. As for the sexual violence epidemic sweeping through the military, the DOD needs to create a "SVU division both in the CID division as well as in the JAG and then give SVU complete jurisdiction over the investigation and/or prosecution, but also give JAG and CID jurisdiction over the accused and accuser by temporarily attaching the parties to the local JAG, to protect the rights of the accused and the accuser from being interfered with the direct chain of command.
