Castle Park High School students call out district over 'unacceptable' conditions on campus

I didn’t go to Castle Park, but I understand what they are going through. Ever since the built Otay Ranch, Eastlake & Olympian High Schools. The district focuses on those schools because of pressure from parents. The older schools get neglected. But some of the older schools didn’t spend their bond wisely. Did Mar Vista and Sweetwater really need new gyms while keeping the old ones. How about tearing them down for updated classrooms. Montgomery built a new libray and administrative building which was needed and well spent. I know when gym was at Mar Vista I know some teachers weren’t happy particularly science because they updated classrooms seeing that the school was built in the 50’s. Chula Vista built a new building at the front the school which improves the look of the school. If you at football divisions its basically the haves and have-nots. Castle Park has been so nelected its pathetic. My son broke his coller bone when he played football because that is in terrible condition. I coached in this district and been to every school. I would say out the 14 high schools Castle Park is in the worse condition. I don’t care for that school just based on where I went and coached, but I do hope those kids get something out of the district. Because you only go to once and should be proud of where you have gone.

I graduated from CPH in 2015 and we were promised back then by Sweetwater District that CPH was going to get fully renovated by the end of 2015. We as student did everything we could to make CPH rank high and all 4 years I attended CPH we always ranked at the top 3 best schools in San Diego even in 2015 we were ranked #1 yet Sweetwater District decided to give the money for renovations to what back then was ranked the WORST school in San Diego ( Sweetwater High School ) who ironically has the same name as the District...
