I loved this video so much. All the beauty - the paintings, the walks in the snow, the animals! I love what you say about not having to have a beautiful view or backyard. When my husband and I were younger (and poorer!) in university, we had an apartment that had a view of train tracks and a brewery! It definitely wasn’t the most picturesque, but it was so much fun to sketch. We are the ones who make the magic happen in our sketchbooks!

I’m admiring your big chunky ribbed tweedy cowl. Love it. I’ve got some chunky rustic yarn I got from Sweden think I’ll make one. I liked all paintings you did this time. I like impressionistic paintings and that’s what they all looked like to me. I’ve never been drawn to oil paints. All mine are watercolor. But I realize it’s because of the style I’ve mainly been exposed to… tight and realistic. But when I see it in impressionistic style I’m like…oh ya I love that. Super video and paintings!! Really inspiring work! I know this is a very old vid but I had to comment because I think I was more inspired by this than all the others I have watched so far. Maybe because the whole vid was looking at your work or process & watching you paint outside! Or because you were so excited. The use of so many mediums looks super fun, especially the various painting sticks. I hope your blizzard paintings did well and you had a blizzard of sales. That subject would look great in a circular format too. I have truly been enjoying following you and hope to find a painting to buy and fit in with my own collection. I only found you (thru your connection to Emma) a few weeks back and started at “1 year ago & 2 yrs ago”. See if I would like watching and get to know a bit of history and just who u were. I must say that my work is nothing like yours, but I do follow exceptional artists in any genre. You are one of those for me as I don’t usually like abstract or modern styles, but your colors always knock me over! I am definitely a colorist. I paint watercolor flowers preferably very large. 30”x 40” is my upcoming group, with some mini paintings between. I also am using different substrates & adding mediums as I go along. Gouache backgrounds are fab. I like your Flashe & may try that in future. I am def veering away from traditional watercolor though, and perhaps the sense of excitement I get is also from the fact that your work now is nontraditional in your multimedia style and the direction you seem to be going in. Keep up the spectacular work and never give up! You have made me see the beautiful side of modern abstracts. P S: I live in P.B., Florida and haven’t seen snow in over 25 years -closer to 40 years! So I understand if it was a treat for you. P.S.S.: the first painting you took outside and all the snow piled up on it so that when you brought it inside, it dripped vertically- I thought that made a fabulous abstract piece!!! just as it was with all the drips. Or it could have been a background! Wonderful soft neutrals Bye now, SARA

I remember when I tried watercolor painting in cold weather and closer to nighttime, not in snow but it was cold enough that the paint on the paper had frost traveling through sections of it which was really cool! When I brought it in I could see the frost trails had caused blooming and veining throughout the piece like what you would get when you use salt or splatter water on it.

I had a similar experience once in college. We were outside plein air painting in watercolor when it started getting overcast and began to rain. My piece wound up looking not unlike yours did. My professor was extremely pleased when I wound up being the only student who went ahead and submitted my work for peer review from that day as a finished painting, however (everyone else was upset and trashed their pieces). Most especially when I told him and the class that it was the scene through a rainy window and God helped me paint it. LOL
