Your videos are awesome! Very informative. Keep making them. I think sanding and detailing is the most important part of finishing.

It is indeed. But sanding is easy when the finish is right!

Appreciate your videos been thinning down my mud and it works a lot better and less sanding you rather put multiple coats on butts and flats then then Have to work with such thick mud
@manwithapan

I only put 2 coats on them unless they are really bad ones.

Can you please make a video showing how to hand coat no-coat for hopefully a "one" pass finish like the instructions state it can be done with. I also appreciate your videos, of all the youtube drywall videos, you give one of the best explanations for beginners or intermed's to grasp.

I litterally have the same set up for sanding lol. I have the festool dust extractor as well but I got sick of hauling around 2 vacuums.

I do so much texturing I hardly ever sand. I have all the tools, boxes etc but I am running into some flat work and the sanding head looks like a nice tool to have. Im goin DeWalt or Makita. So basically Im gonna save over $600 by not having to buy that special Vacuum so Im gonna order one tonight. Thanks for the info !!

@@curtwehrmeyer124 good choice. I wish someone would of told me before I spent $1200 on the festool dust extractor. Now it just sits in my garage for the past 2 years lol

Hey Leo do you ever used a power assist box? If yes, do you like it?
@manwithapan
@manwithapan Жыл бұрын
So I personally have never used one. I have tried out one of my friends and I thought personally it was just as easy to push a regular box. If the mud was thin enough problem I found just running it across a couple ceiling flat was that you had to immediately go as soon as it released.

Loving making my way through your content bro 👌 Question though do yous not light check when yous are done ?
@manwithapan
@manwithapan Жыл бұрын
Yes I light check when sanding, usually I have a cord attached to a little high powered led light. But in this case I just did that room as it was super bright and served for the video purposes.

@@manwithapan never doubted you for a second mate 🙌 I'm on a commercial job atm and seem to be getting heavy lines on the outside of my flats after running them. I think it could be due to humps in the walls .. have you ever had these issues ? Been playing around with the settings and tightened everything up on them this morning.

@@geordie-drywall first check blade on box to make sure it is not to worn out. If it is stand up board. Do a knife check on the bevels. Many times on stand up board the flats get offset, which causes one side to be a little high. You may have to split the flats like a butt joint. It will rock when you put a knife on one of these flats. If it does not rock then it’s just the blade adjustment. Give the little screws on outside of box that go to blade a 1/2 turn.

@@manwithapan legend !!! I checked a few of the flats today (I was 2nd coating flats with the boxes) and there's defiantely peaks on most of them. I ran them more open than I normally would and helped alot but thanks about the 2 screws , been wanting to tweak them but defiantely will now. On a standard house as of next week so hopefully it's just the stood up crap commercial fixing of the sheets 🤞 Thanks for your reply mate

@@geordie-drywall i have worked on a lot of commercial work in my career. Most of the time the high side will be on right side of flat of board was hung correctly. To avoid having a hump in wall and showing flat after it’s painted. Run the wheels of the box wide open Dow right and left of high side. Then check it and run center following day. Repeat process when you skim with 12 box set on 1. Then skim center. It takes a bit of time but if job is big enough you can center them after they are set up while you are coating beads. I have some pictures of a commercial job I did with about 40 flats busted out like this. To save some time, you can fill the flat side on the first coat after tape. Then bust them out on skim coat. if I have a flat that has edges from box and most of the flats I am running with box don’t have edges I know it is a rocker or has a high side. You’re welcome for reply. I am here to help people learn and make their job top quality and easier on them.
