This is the original version of Act 1. What he did was mix in a Genesis conversion of the intro from the arranged version done by Akinori Minami. If you haven't heard the arranged version, search up "sonic and knuckles sonic the hedgehog 3 arrange sandopolis".

another awesome selection and arrangement, gj

You should do a Lava Reef remix with the extended bits from the soundtrack version.

I did this one for fun and practice. Was kinda hard syncing up the flow into the actual song, but it seems I got it. Weird how the opening kick sounds off, but oh well. xD

Some guy named Akinori Minami arranged this on a S3&K album back in 1994. I've heard stories that say all the lil intros were in the original versions of the songs and Akinori just arranged the instruments. But it could have all been Akinori's idea. Anyways, it still sounds cool.

Okay, I'll look into this. Thanks.

You can use a DAW with the vst, VOPM. (Easiest, since you work with MIDIs, but you must know the limits of the YM2612 if you want it to sound real) or VGM Music Maker (tracker, that needs skill and time to use, but you cant do anything a real YM2612 could not)
@dissident9312 жыл бұрын
no. those are loops that should have been in the final song but was not for some reason (the beta tracks and the recent sonic cd port have the full tracks). this, along with 3 or 4 other songs, were released on a soundtrack back in 1994. it's not clear whether Akinori arranged these based off a demo, or if these intros and such are solely his creation.

ah yea. i'm the one who gives him that info, if you couldn't tell ^_^ BTW, I fixed the annotation, so it should send you to the video now.

Great job with this. I've always wanted someone to take the unique portions of the arrange soundtrack and implement them into the original Genesis music. Btw, do you by any chance have any sort of record on the composers/arrangers of individual songs for S3&K? I've come across various comments from you regarding the research you've done and I have to admit that I find it very interesting.
@Shockwave67712 жыл бұрын
Actually, you don't need to search. I just realized he added an anotation with the arranged version, lol.

I click on the annotation, but it links me to a removed video. I'll never know, argh! But I like this, I wish I found out about your channel and InvincibleHedgehog91 sooner. So much information on these music tracks :D Although it does get to a bit of a heated discussion sometimes but eh, what can you do.
@dissident9312 жыл бұрын
not that I am aware of, but somebody has made a tracker version of the Lava Reef Zone arrangment.
@littlefrank10312 жыл бұрын
Oh, thank you for fixing the annotation. Also I've been meaning to ask you. It might sound strange but do you have any acapella on games like sonic R or know anyone that might have?
@dissident9312 жыл бұрын
yup! i did an mp3 version with all the tags for somebody else, but its in my mediafire account. i'll link you. and i've been trying to do the others by my skill is limiting me xD! i'll get them done someday though.

Hm... maybe I can try doing something, or at least experiment. What program is generally used for making YM2612-style music?
@technologick118312 жыл бұрын
So you mean it's similar to elements that were removed from the Sonic CD JP/EU songs? The Sonic Retro site has those songs either with a little intro to them (save for the past-versions) or an outro to them.

Is there any program to make Genesis songs, like Famitracker is for NES songs?
@dissident9312 жыл бұрын
VGM Music Maker However, I don't use trackers. (I would but they take way longer to do than MIDI+VST, plus I'd need to improve on my keyboard skills.)
@dissident9312 жыл бұрын
hmmm.. I think there is a tool that can do that. I think it's hosted on Sonic Retro but I'm not sure.
@LairOfSoundtracks12 жыл бұрын
Has anyone done this with the remix version of the main theme too?
@Victinho6D12 жыл бұрын
Thank you a lot. I'm learning myself how to use to program, and I'm doin' kinda well, I believe. If you want, I can send a .vgm file of a song I've made(or covered) so far. But do you know how to insert .vgm / .vgz into Genesis ROMs? Thank you a lot ;-)

Hey Dissident93, where did you find the credits for these songs?
@dissident938 жыл бұрын
2 years late, but hopefully you'd still care to know. It was mostly research and stuff based on process of elimination, but since then I've learned other things, but I believe they've now began to propagate around the sonic community.
@dissident9312 жыл бұрын
nah thats not strange. and nope. the only way I know of getting the accapellas, are either leaked mastertrack recordings, or a guitar hero/rock band rip.

Gerard Geer kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqesaXtmpbRmhc0 all I did was arranged the intro to have the same FM instruments/style as the original Genesis version, just for fun.
