Had a similar experience with my step-dad many years ago, he wandered into the living room while I was watching "Waiting To Exhale". Proceeded to make fun of me for watching "chick-flicks" for a few minutes, until the scene where that one character loaded all of her cheating husband's stuff into his car and set it on fire. My step-dad suddenly went from "Hur-hur, chick flicks!" to "Damn, that's my kinda woman! She's pretty badass!" Lol

As another Alaskan fan, I concur. The midnight sun is easier to deal with though in my experience. At least you can just put hardcore blinds and curtains in the windows or even just wear an eye mask to block out the sun verse being starved for sunlight in the days of darkness.

I'm not from Alaska but my dad is and I've only been to visit family there in the summer, but my grandmother was telling me how important it had been for her to get all these lights and have the walls bright colors, she said it helped during the darker months

Love the fact you just laugh during this entire movie and commentary. Betty will live forever and she’s gold! When she and Sandra are at the campfire, every one in a while I think of this scene and just laugh and sometimes sing it out loud. Greetings from Alaska. It isn't a true 24 hours of daylight until you are far enough north. Where I live im South East Alaska so the on the solicstice its about 21 hours of daylight or about 3 hours from sun rise to sunset

Yeah, I was born and raised in Alaska. You get used to the sun not setting. It still goes down, but the rays still light up the sky at night. So it's not like an afternoon sun at midnight. What sucks is the lack of sun, though. Makes people crazy.

I know this was recorded awhile ago. In case no one told you. When “Margaret” was telling things about herself to “Andrew” that night after the naked scene, she said she got the tattoo of the swallows after her parents died. She also said her parents were dead when they were in the immigration office. She was an only child. Also, you missed the hilarious scenes when the credits were rolling. Everyone was being questioned by the immigration guy. I actually go back and watch some of your movie reactions multiple times. I enjoy your reactions to movies and vids.

I watched this in high school and thought it was lowkey cute. Now that i’m older, i realize that this movie took place over the course of a weekend and that killed the cute romance for me.

Why did it kill it? These people have known each other for years, plus it adds that it took a weekend to let down each other’s walls, clearly they were attracted to each other by some low level and they never needed a reason to raise those levels, she showed a sense of humor and certain vulnerability and he showed he was more than an assistant, she’d forgotten to love and be loved and he reminded her of that A weekend it may be, but the ending says “marry me so I can date you” which means their story is only beginning, not head over heals yet, but a chance to get there
