I bought the Sandtrakz to move my Bote Rover (14', 105lbs without the outboard motor or gear). I took the motor off, but left my cooler, and some light gear. My guess is that it was about 130lbs. The wheels did fine on the asphalt road, gravel parking lot, and the packed sand/gravel ramp to the beach. BUT! It only made it about 5 feet into the deep soft sand here in Destin, FL before plowing. I literally had to drag the whole rig after that. I had a friend help me drag/push it to the water and back up the hill. Exhausted! I am wondering if using the double set up like Railblaza has on their website would solve the problem. Until I find a solution, no beach for me!

Hi mate. Yes at 50kg+ it’s always going to be a slog in the soft sand - my Viking Reload when fully loaded with gear then add 20kg of tuna in the back it can exceed 50kgs and I get the same hard slog - it’s not always that often for me so it’s a problem I deal with on those occasions and take my time, the alternative larger balloon wheels or double up option from ctug would mean i can’t put the trolley in the hatch. For you however as it’s going to be a regular thing with that weight I would def invest in either the double up bar and 2nd ctug sandtraks or get the wheeleez big Baloon wheel cart (I believe some people there in the USA have added wheeleez wheels to their ctug carts so google search or ask your local kayak community for some options ) hope that helps you get that awesome weapon on the water soon - would love to have one of them myself

This might be fine for a little kayak....not for mine. I just bought one of these things last week. I used it today for the first time. I paddle an Ocean Kayak 4.7. It might weigh about 120# with all of my gear on board. The cart does fine on any compact surface. It might as well be a plow in deep/soft sand.

Actually I weighed all of my gear and the total is closer to 150lbs. I have decided to keep the cart. Now I just make 2 trips in and out of the water. One trip with the kayak....and the other with most of my gear. It really comes down to the type of sand I'm using the cart on. I'm having my issues with deep/soft sand....not compact sugar sand. It's not that I'm a weak guy either. I have also been in touch with C-Tug regarding their kickstand extension. Mine came off on the first day. C-tug was nice enough to send me their new kickstand that is longer without the extension.

i have a hobie pa14 and i use the boonedox landing gear. i deal alot of gravel/ soft dirt. some sand- 120lbs rigged plus an extra 25-35lbs with equipment im trying to figure out if i should get these or boonedoxs sand tires. probably boonedox's sand tires b/c they can withstand that amount of weight and will float if dropped in water. any suggestions?

Hi mate / hard to say - for what it’s worth the sandtrakz will certainly carry the load and make your life easier / however I don’t know if the wheels are compatible with the boondocks system so one would assume the balloon wheels they offer might make more sense seeing as your already using that set up / from what I hear the boondocks makes a lot of sense for the pedal kayak hulls (meaning the ctug pads don’t always sit nice on the double hull shapes of some of these pedal yaks) - hope that helps (your point about the floating - I guess that makes sense if you ever drop them - otherwise leash them - I don’t have that prob as mostly mine packs into my hatch

Has anyone tried this in mud? If so, how'd it do?
@PaddleGuy1

xb2 might similarly as soft sand mate - mud can stick a little as it does so if it’s getting tough you may have to clear the mud occasionally
