There's a solid little bit of Sandy in us all. I'd say glad rather than sad. My he live forever.

He is a pure comedic genius. And certainly NOT just in that sense. But the man is well spoken and learned as a WHOLE...!!! Nobody will ever touch what Barry Humphries has accomplished throughout his career. One of my ALL time favorites for sure.

Absolutely captivating. Sandy's voice is not what it once was, but his mannerisms, facial expression and body language are perfect. Along with the clobber, make-up and hair styling. Maybe the absence of the live audience did it. Curious as to where this came from- is the whole show available somewhere?

"Barry Humphries Flashbacks" a series shown on ABC in Aus around the turn of the millenium. He went though Aus history of 50s to 80s. With his characters also commenting. The Sir Les ones are here on YT. Loads of small clips and they are absolutely hilarious.

Sentimental rubbish. And the voice is literally Dame Edna's voice. Yet everyone going on like it's so unique and captivating. You probably cry during toilet roll commercials

It’s not meant to be sentimental; it’s a subtle dig at the blandness of Australian life in the 50s. (Perhaps too subtle for some.) But as for the voice, you’re spot on. Have you also noticed he’s got the same face as Edna? It’s almost like it’s the same bloke doing both characters. Christ on a bike!

This is why we don't have comedy anymore because there's too many people like you that are too stupid to understand it .

In terms of the voice back then the Australian people didn't sound like they were putting on some accent to be Steve Irwin and show how Australian there were, some actually spoke like this. And being a young person which you obviously are it wouldn't be humorous to you because you don't remember the time is talking about
