"Internalize what perspective is..." So well put! After you learn the concept of perspective, it's baked into the drawing process

Perspective turned me off of drawing and made me think I can’t draw - all of those lines going every which way, ugh. Then I took your 30 Days Sketching class and the Drawing 101 class and discovered it’s not that hard - well, at least the basics aren’t hard. It was a huge ah-ha time for me. Suddenly my drawing started to look better and less wonky. YES - I also learned that double block thing and it didn’t help - I didn’t know until now why that is. Thanks, Sandy!

I learned that "double block" lesson in high school also. Now I understand why it never worked! That was worth the price of admission for this video! So thanks for that. I guess I learn better (at least on this subject) by watching as well as listening to you. I read your explanation and just couldn't picture it in my head. So the video was sooo helpful. TFS

The rectangle that you were taught in school is the same way I've been doing it LOL. Sandy, that charcoaled cart was so cool and 'as' you were drawing it and you approached the 'wheel', I had no idea what shape that would have been so I was so impressed by that. The fact that someone can draw or paint something from memory and without using a reference photo totally 'blows me away'. Perspective is something I've always had a curiosity about but because I'm a simple card maker, I've never followed through with additional education. I think I'm ready now. Thanks Sandy

Thank you so much! I've recently attempted some watercoloring and I'm having so much fun! Last week I thought I'd try to challenge myself and work on a building, but the perspective thing makes me hesitate. After watching this, I'm going to try it! It's just a piece of paper! Always, you are an inspiration.

Perspective I here the word and I wanted to turn you off, but I didn’t. Taken the two classes you talked about and I still don’t get it. After watching this video I will buy me a block and start working on improving my knowledge of perspective I’ll get it with practice. Thanks so much
@deborahmccleary19982 жыл бұрын
I’ve used the double block method since middle school. Ha! I also have perspective issues with circles. I will try getting the angle on a block and drawing a circle inside of it. Might that work?
@SandyAllnock12 жыл бұрын
Whatever the perspective would be for a rectangle, draw the circle inside that shape. Touch all 4 sides and fudge it from there 🤩

I still don’t understand how parallel lines can meet at the vanishing point? Parallel lines aren’t supposed to meet? I’m confused
@SandyAllnock12 жыл бұрын
Perhaps I said parallel at some point. If I did sorry. The lines need to point to the vanishing point-sometimes they SEEM parallel but that just means the vanishing point is very far away. But they need to be closing in toward each other, not veering away as in the first 2 examples.
@pink25poppies12 жыл бұрын
@@SandyAllnock1 i think I am confused because the sides on a block are made of parallel lines so why will they meet in the distance? Sorry for my ignorance
@SandyAllnock12 жыл бұрын
@@pink25poppies1 The laws of perspective say the things farther away from you are smaller than things that are right in front of you. If that were not true, when you look out the window at the house across the street it would be pressed up against your own window, not a smaller house in the distance. And a house that’s all the way down the block is going to be smaller still. That happens with a small object in your hand as well if you look at it at angles so that one portion comes closer to your eye than another.
