I already hate NCERT History books which propagated my mind from class 6th to 10th. It didn't even mentioned our great kings and it glorified the invaders. I thank my father for teaching me history of our great nation otherwise today I would've been brain washed in thinking that invaders were "great". Have come to learn over the years that the Western knowledge centres (sciences, histories, institutions and religions) have huge problems accepting anything that makes the west look bad or unimportant, even if it's true. We always want to look like #1. The west tends to trust something from a place of authority, not of observation. Once a western idea becomes popular it's very difficult to change. It's hard to accept that all your knowledge may be wrong when it makes you look like a fool raised by a culture built upon cruelty and exploitation. I think it's because we in the west have largely lost connection to who we really are, any real spiritual connection, for a very long time. It's why when yoga was given to the west we stripped it from a higher consciousness practice down to an aerobic exercise. Living in a culture that teaches you are the body and mind only is very destructive - It creates a huge empty feeling so we go around everywhere causing trouble for our selves and other nations/peoples. I'm an archaeologist with a Ph.D. in Harappan sea trade. I thought the Aryan Race theory was debunked a long time ago through archaeological evidence of multiple chalcolithic (5000 years ago) groups thriving simultaneously with the Harappans in culture-settlements right down till the Godavari river! Didn't realize that it is still being taught in Indology or at school levels. There are so many areas of research that obviously still need to be brought out into the public - and our outdated textbooks. Besides the so-called Vedic researchers like Mueller who translated the ancient literature for the westerners, the biggest chunk of the blame lies with Thomas MacCauley and his co-conspirators who advised the British Crown after 1835 that the only way to subjugate India was through destroying her Vedic Gurukul education system by creating an aspiration for Western modernity. Till this day, we're still carrying that burden.

As I remember from my own college days, Indian historians mostly tend to follow Romila Thapar's tribe. The few, outside of this camp have remained in the wilderness. I've known a few highly respected archaeologists like Dr. S.P. Gupta and others who had attempted to make their voice heard at NCERT a couple of decades ago but clearly, they did not succeed. So there is a marked divide between Indian archaeology and history.

Charlene, what you must understand is that the "Aryan invasion" or "Aryan migration" theory is widely accepted as scientific fact. Only in India does the "out of India" hypothesis exist. 1:40:20 We (Kashmiri Pandits) have our own calendar which we still use today. It is called Saptarishi Samvat and it starts from 3076 BC. Currently our year is 5097. No one else in Indian subcontinent follows this which is why I thought I should share this here. This is the living proof of how old our civilization is and it somehow survived here in the mountains where the rest of India was being invaded. I also noticed a lot of ancient Vedic traditions still being followed in our culture as well as the language (Kashmiri) still preserves lot of ancient Rigvedic words and structure as well as accent (like that of lithuanians or russians). We also share some looks with europeans and middle east. I am convinced that migrations indeed took place but the direction could be from India and not the other way around.

One counter of mine that none of the proponents of Aryan Invasion theory have been able to satisfactorily answer and always dodge...
