Reading your reports and as a avid listening person, I write. My first portable was a German Nortmende. Big and just OK. Second was a Sony 2001 battery eater. But qualify s as a good receiver albeit battery eater. Next is the GOLD STANDARD ICF-2010. My first was stolen in Wildwood NJ shore. Second is a 200,000 serial and I installed a KIWA Murata SSB filter and swapped it to AM slot. Loved that radio. Now comes the Traveling radio because of size Panasonic RF-B65 Very sensitive, a bit broad but perfect size. Easy to use too. Now I have a Tecsun PL-880. Good sharp radio with too many hidden abilities. Upper SSB/Lower SSB Poor "S" meter. I still use it and its great, But 2010 is all time KING. Thank you. Peter w2HP Hamming since 1954

Hej på dej Todderbert, thanks for the MW bandscan i love it, and the Sangean PR-D12 seems so nice, so yes, the radio geek from Sweden is going to buy this radio. Yes, I love Sangean radios. Sangean manufactures great radios, and I love my Sangean that i own. And yes, I'm waiting for some candy Acebeam Pokelit AA 5000K in orange color, and Wurkkos' FC11C is on its way, along with a few other things. But yes, I'm going to take a look at the Sangean PR-D12 and see if some Swedish resellers have it first. Take care Todderbert and have a lovely Friday.

This D-12 is fantastic, second only to my D-5 that excels on AM band.

Hello Todderbert. Nice video`s you have. I intend to buy a Sangean PR-D12. I love AM-DX and mostly I use a Sony ICF 7601 analogue radio for that. I love that radio because it is sensitive and has good audio. But I try to buy a radio that is as sensitive as the 7601, but has an even more clearer and crispier audio on AM. Is this Sangean PR-D12 the right radio for me you think Todderbert? I mean, does it has that clear audio I am looking for you think? Best wishes.

Sangean is typically not known for crisp clear audio on the AM band. The C.Crane EP Pro may be one to look into.

And as I have read some reviews of this radio I dont think I am going to buy this radio now, because it seems that this radio also have some cons that I dont like. As I see it this radio is still in an evaluation process. Probably some day it will be a perfect radio for the AM DX enthousiast, but not yet now.

“if i could listen in Spanish i’d know what they’re sating” - what I say every time I scan the shortwave bands. On rare occasion it’s coming in well enough to use the Google translate app.

I bought this radio mostly for FM use. I did a AM band scan and was very disappointed. It wouldn’t hold a signal. It seemed like it was constantly auto tuning. Even close stations the station would come in excellent and then fade away and then come back in very clear over and over again….

Auto tuning can be an issue, especially at night. I would use the radio with a passive loop during the day, and you should have no trouble keeping the signal locked.
