FY : Musarrat Nazir was an actress and singer in Pakistani movies acted in the 50s-60s. She later settled in Canada. This particular song was recorded in the 80s during one of her visits back to Pakistan.

Folk songs are folk because they don't have any particular lyricist. The originate from a collective. It got big popularity and set lyrics when Mussarrat Nazir sang it on the radio/TV. Other than that there are many versions of any folk song.
