The gift of finding sanity is, you get to cope with the insanity of others. People signall back and forward not to validate if the other person is sane. People do that to check if their level of insanity is still at an acceptable level. it is far more complex ofcourse.
@sergiystoyan52604 жыл бұрын
It works both ways though, but not equally for all: some people mainly emit/validate signals of 'sanity' while the rest mainly receive them 'to be tuned' and retransmit.

I enjoy listening to Jordan and I agree with most of what he says. There are points, though, that I don't necessarily agree or disagree with but that I say to myself, "Yeah, but..." like when he mentions the point of needing others to help us organize our world. I can only think of being socially introverted. Some people can't handle or feel very awkward in social situations. I would say I agree with him that people need others to help organize our world but it's quite a lot more difficult for some people to seek out or even want to seek out others to help them move forward with their life in a positive, structured, routine manner. I'm also glad he's back and seems pretty healthy.
@nate91984 жыл бұрын
Regardless of whether you are an introvert, he's touching on the idea that humans are largely social creatures. I'm an introvert, but i see the utility in having a social structure. We should have at least a small handful of people in our lives to provide us with feedback about who we are as a person and to regulate our sanity because we will never achieve this alone, the world is too complicated as Peterson points out.

Completely alone, in my little white walled apartment. I don’t even want to buy furniture or decorate it because I’ve had to start over from zero so many times I’m not expecting to live here for more than a year. I’ve never had $2000 in my bank account ever I don’t drink, I don’t do drugs. I don’t have any friends I’m pretty sure most men in my position would’ve either offed themselves already or turned to hard drugs, because I’ve seen people in better situations do that more easily I am a shell of a person, I have no joys or ambitions, I care not for intimacy or relationships, when bad things happen I don’t even really react to them anymore. When good things happen I don’t even notice. I feel I’m mentally defective, but not in a hurt myself or others way, just feel like I’m separated, no connection to others, not even family. Like I get what Peterson says but it’s like it doesn’t apply to me

I enjoyed the content, there are some people who struggle greatly when they are overwhelmed with the consequences of not behaving as people would like, but it is important for people to understand that sometimes that person’s behavior could be linked to many circumstances where they felt it was appropriate to act in that manner. Based on my experience, some people will encourage you to believe something is normal, when in fact it is very offending and disruptive to others. If an innocent child is mislead during the time where they are developing their beliefs, it can have severe consequences for something that they weren’t equipped to understand. Kids only know what they are taught by the people they trust, and as a child, you aren’t developed enough to know what makes someone trustworthy. It’s important to know the facts about what lead up to the behavior being unacceptable, and it’s not right that the child has to get punished on top of that.

Do dogs like routine or have pets been separated from their natural instincts and rhythms? Animals in the wild have patterned daily and seasonal rhythms. Perhaps people could optimize behavior according to their natural circadian rhythms, best attuned by exposure to sunlight and shaped by the timing of eating (and/or fasting) and the quality of sleep. In other words, does the impulse to socialize like the drive to monetize reflect separation from nature and the unnecessary creation of needs? Are cognitive structures of prediction and control based on materialistic assumptions about causal relations which disregard synergetic potential and synchronicity?

Moulding to and being shaped by a society that creates an environment for a parent-child relationship where the child resorts to fighting to get 40 minutes of undivided attention, is the problem in itself. Dr P contradicted himself here, since he presented the child/bedtime example as the problem, and the shaping to-fro our social norm a solution. So if that 5% deviation window drives change, it's worth asking ourselves which way we're driving it. It's also worth asking what the consequences are, and how that bedtime story may play out.

In most of this video, i understand where everything comes from, but all of this is not 100% true for everyone, people can be more misserable and lost with a constant routine aswell. wake up, eat, work eat, sleep... everyday... and if people tap on your back and encourages you for what you do, thats all good but what if thats not what that person wants to do? what if that person feels like she/he doesnt have time to do the things they wanna do in life and they're stuck with the work since it takes most of their time? i mean... there is so much gray area in this subject, For example some people are happy with themselves, with who they are and what they wanna do in life even if they don't have that routine everyday because they can appreciate what they have and where they are and adapt to situations easily. i know all this since i've lived long enough to experience all of this, one of the times of my life when i was most happy was when i was poor and unemployed for months, you wouldn' think that right? i had no routines except enjoying being outside and walk and actually look at the outside world and take everything in, see smaller details everywhere that you had no time to do before, more time to interact with people and meet new people etc. every day was random and i loved it. now why did i change it? because i made a random decision to do so, i wanted to try something new. now i work full time everyday and to be honest, im less happy than before since even if i have money to buy things... i got no time to do the things i want with it. Time is money, but money is also time, and time is all the real currency you got.

Best life advice, Pick up the Bible, read the book of Ecclesiastes and listen to King Solomon (only the most successful, most powerful, most handsome, most educated human to ever walk this planet.) King Solomon knew everything under the sun is vanity, and meaningless. King Solomon knew that a life lived without God had zero purpose and makes us no different than the animals in the animal kingdom. Only having your life tethered to God, outside of everything under the sun - is where a man finds true peace and purpose. Jordan Peterson knows this, but that wouldn’t make him any money now would it. I don’t know who is worse, this charlatan or Joe Olsteen. Same same. Ludicrous! These are rules for the non-creatives, for the entrenched, for the blind believers, the faithful followers. Brilliant children, thriving dogs and fulfilled and evolving parents are born out of challenge and nuance , upheaval and variety. Routine is mundane, stable and boring. "You know what the fellow said - 'in Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace - and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock.'"
