The point is to pursue your purpose and do whatever makes you happy regardless of what anybody else thinks. Never do what people think you should do, only do the things that you actually want to do. I, personally am so happy that I threw away all these nonsense "special" occupations like I really have to impress someone. I have literally chased jobs in which I didn't even have any interest in at all. These days I just keep it simple, focusing on my own businesses that I create, invest to earn a lot of money, and focus on opportunities that I'm actually interested in. Last but not least, no matter what you choose, there will always be pros and cons. The most important thing, however, is that it is YOUR decision, not anybody else. You must never be influenced by others and what they are doing, or you simply won't make it. Especially if it is your own family because nobody likes to interfere more than your own family. They always think they know what is best for you, but only YOU know what's really best for you.

At 18 I remember always wanting the truth about how I could find purpose in life, and the answer I would always get from my family and friends was, "misery is the curse of intelligence." I'd keep thinking how terrible it was that I hadn't achieved anything, but people would say nobody achieves anything so young. I feel sad that most of them carry these feelings even to this day, but it is wrong. I failed college and messed around with drugs and alcohol, and found myself utterly suicidal. Now I am planning to become a contractor, have a healthy schedule and have a partner who lives with me. She has a hard time verbalizing things, but she pushed me to find work and help with chores around the house. That alone fucking changed my life big time. JP says clean your room, but it's unbelievable to think just how powerful that is. When I clean my home, and have the money to survive, it becomes so easy to write, and workout, and go out with friends and eliminate the dread of immediate catastrophe. Really, it's incredible. Still very pessimistic about life, but it is not less worthwhile to see how things unfold than it is to just quit the game altogether now. The smallest responsibilities, an approximate aim, and hope. Powerful stuff.

There are some many things I love about Jordan Peterson's deep and insightful messages, among them is his great capacity to verbalize the essential nature of humans beings and many of the problems we face in this visit to this world... he's a well of profound knowledge, yet despite all this and despite the fact that I can't exactly put my finger on it I feel his prophet like preaching echoes the prevailing mantras of western culture and reinforces them by constantly putting out there the messages of status, dominant hierarchies, your proper role in society, do this or your life will be a catastrophe, etc, etc. Even though many of the things he says are true, are well presented and articulated, it's obvious that he's a product of western culture. The problem also is that he presents his ideas as if they were the only objective reality we humans can live in. There are many valuable ideas, insights and lessons to extract from his speeches, but sometimes it surprises me that as much as he likes Carl Jung work he has never adopted his insights about Eastern wisdom and mysticism.... and when he does he usually treats them as some kind of side note.

Specifically, he's against a lot of the transexual 'acceptance" stuff being pushed because it destroys the very core of what humans need to progress and make moral decisions in life (identity). The man's purpose seems to be to act as a beacon for others to find their own purpose, and he does a pretty good job of it, unfortunately for him, this kinda makes him an outcast as most people seldom want to confront the brutal truth, they'd prefer to be fed sweet lies. We're all susceptible to that in some way, the media just happens to have a larger soap box to shout obscenities from as a defense mechanism.

There's so few good fatherly figures in society now that he has become a father of sorts to many. There's an attack on masculinity and fatherhood today, and there has been, so it's no wonder he's attacked for who he is and what he says.

Vision, honesty and responsibility also happen to be key principles of leadership. They are necessary to be able to create things (together) for the benefit of more than yourself. It is really remarkable that Mr. Peterson comes up with the reference to Genesis: Everyone is made in the image of God. I did the same in my book on leadership. To state that in those Devine qualities that we have the answer can be found what is expected of us. Use them to create, build, shape the future. Prove that you are worthy of them. Giving men Devine capabilities to achieve greater things also is probably the earliest example of empowerment (give a person the appropriate means necessary to accomplish the task given). How subtle and brilliant a plan with mankind is that.

It is one thing to be pessimestic, but something else to help people gain the strength enough to get through the reality of life. This is one reason why I like JBP, he tells people that life is hard, but also that they can be strong enough to overcome the hardships. It is like how Simon Sinek explains the difference between optimism and positivity. Positivity is denial of the negative, while optimism admits that the negativity is happening but understands we can overcome it.

Life is only as complicated as you make it to be. The major challenge in life is human relationships and the fact that you are dependent on other people to get what you want. Many of us want to be and act professional/serious all the time because that is what "society and media tell us to do". On the other hand, humans are emotional and social beings, so when you neglect that fact and act and communicate otherwise, you're not going to get very far. In fact, the most successful people in life have great social and communication skills. Technical skills matter much less than you think.

Many devotees of religion were taught from childhood that suffering exists in humans because of sin against "God." That sets the stage for ongoing guilt. I don't know about you, but I relate to the following quote ... "Human beings do not like being pushed about by gods. @@jimhughes1070 Life can be brutal, and I suggest that that is because we are brutes that do our best to survive the brutishness of life on planet earth. An animal am I An animal am I ... grounded from the sky No gods to love or hate me ... no angels flying by My earthly journey is but short ... as nature has designed I pride myself for leaving ... all religion far behind Most of my life was squandered ... by confusion of the quest To know if a god existed ... or if it was a human test They taught us that religion ... demanded our respect But only if it was our own ... all others to reject They trampled each other to their graves ... as religious wars they fought Meanwhile they taught that God is love ... and knows our every thought If a god just happens to exist ... it ought to be ashamed The suffering of all forms of life ... should not have brought it fame As death draws near ... I understand that I will soon depart And so I give these words to you ... from the bottom of my heart Please teach your children to not trust ... that you have the answers When all you have are opinions ... and are naught but flighty dancers

I like Peterson, have watched countless videos of him and have his 12 rules for life book. But watching this video, Peterson is taking things waaaay too seriously than it needs to be. Thus, I am more fond of Robert Greene's perspective on life and I have all of his books too. Jordan is too much concerned about the suffering aspect of life and preaches what "you should do". Robert, however, brings more realism to human nature and encourages you to be much smarter and more strategic operating in the world and with people. Life to me is as simple as this; Do whatever the hell you want to do without any guilt, remorse or even conscience (because those things are only going to hold you back from reaching your goals). And never put too much trust in anyone because we are all acting out of our own self-interest, and nobody truly cares unless it's in their self-interest. Does that mean you're a bad person? Not at all, it means you are being real with yourself and others. Life is the biggest game you can ever play, so just play the best game you can play. If something does not work out or you are not able to get something, simply move on to something or someone else. You are not bound to anything or anyone, and you can do whatever the hell you want. Don't try to impress other people because it's only going to make you and others more miserable. Prove things only to yourself, be the best version of yourself and help others become the best version of themselves. Every day you wake up, the only thing you should be concerned about is doing what is in YOUR self-interest, not anybody else self-interest. Become really good at something and make yourself indispensable. These sorrowful speeches from Peterson with sad music, no matter how accurate it is, are neither going to make you happier or help you take action. Because at the end of the day, that's all there is... Action! So stop complaining and start doing, and always keep in mind; Nobody cares if you live or die unless your rich and famous. Do NOT throw yourself away to others, never cast your pearls before swine. Just keep improving yourself and achieve the best things in life. Fuck everybody else :)

i feel deep sorrow for you and your self-interest. i would not want to be your friend nor do i admire you in the slightest. you are full of poison-evil. you are really out of touch with what it means to be the best person you can be...do you really believe that focusing on yourself only (my God, "fuck everybody else") will bring you fulfillment and even joy? we make the BIG mistake of thinking everybody thinks the way we do. if we all thought as you do we would be living in hell! how you came to see the world as so cruel, i am sure is a sad, sad, story. and this is heartbreaking to me. i wish you the wisdom to see the truth of out interconnectiveness and the joy of giving and receiving love. there is no greater feeling. i might not like your words, but i love you, as i do all humanity, with all my heart.

This is my religion. I'm gathering a basis that God is conscience. To have faith in your ability to make a conscience decision to better yourself threw your community for the persut of happiness. I plan on holding meetings virtually to discuss principals ,laws , beliefs, and how to live life religiously threw conscience decision. It is not a religion/way of life for the weak of faith because without it the greatest test of life cannot be played. And it rings a certain truth in the soul that you are the meaning of life. God is always a figure that drives us regardless of current religious systems but they all have the same principles at the core of them. Taking that and feeling the world around us there are simple truths that all know on a deeper level as unbiased fact. Those are the foundation to take care and love and hope for your surroundings but not to be blind of the truth. That this life is difficult under the best of circumstances but you have a conscience [godly] decision to continue the path to having faith of God threw faith in yourself. There are no limits to you as a creature made in his image.

True: humans can do great things: in the last 200 years slavery was abolished, child labor was banned, 5 days 8-hour workday became the new normal, we have civil rights and free education and health care ( most of the developed world except the US) ...... That was the result of collective action and individual responsibility. It was not easy because the establishment violently did try to suppress all these....

Those who live in a culture where starvation is prevalent, don't have any hope, or way to escape their reality. Only those of us with full bellies will be on the internet, giving out advise.

Very occasionally someone comes along who is special, someone the world needs , someone humanity needs. JP is the light. If this was 2000 years ago he would be called Jesus. This wonderful human being has opened my life to truth and hope. Thankyou Mr Peterson .

Ig you wake up in three morning and feel like trash then you did something wrong the day before. Whether that's smoking, working too hard, eating too little, suffering a loss, your room is too hot... find out what that is and fix it right away.

Must youtube reflective and inspiring videos show windmills. I know; complete out of topic but the windmill thing is getting repetitive, I felt like saying it. On topic: suffer a little, live a little and laugh a little, enjoy them all.

I'd like to say that He could well be the second coming but that would cause people to try and assasinate Him, just as they did with Jesus, Martin Luther King and John F Kennedy.

He is very pessimistic that's why he is crying. He could also enjoy the present moment as it is. Future is only a concept. All we have is the present moment. Don't project yourself in the future. It doesn't make sense.

Exactly, and to be honest I am tired of Petersons whining. It doesn't really help anyone. Yes, life is suffering and all that, but who gives a shit? You live and you die, so just go do something, whatever it is and die like a fucking man (or woman for PC...). There is no point in worrying whatsoever, so it's better to have an "I just don't give a fuck" attitude and stop taking life so seriously. None of us are going to make it either way. One thing that Peterson is spot on, is that you should stop wasting the opportunities that are right in front of you. That we can agree. Just do it! It's one of the best things in life to live by, and you have nothing to lose.

I really like Jordans intellectual capacity, his world view, his ethics, his rationality, he is a guy I would like to trust seeing as a leader of a huge country, the climate change issue, the WHO, the UN what else. BUT: from about 10:00 in this video he looses me when he is talking about 'a god's, about 'a genesis' and stuff. I was raised as well by my parents that I should believe that there is a Christian god, but it made never sense to me even as a child. So what shall I do with him after he discloses he is believing in an old white bearded men floating in space and creating life and universe in 7 days???

It's not what he believe, it is the ancient story itself told something, it is a book that crosses centuries to this day and certainly still survive long after we die, so the message is finding meaning in your life, and that book or other books or other stories are some clues for us to look deep into ourselves and figure it out. PS: I think maybe you should spend some time to watch his lectures on biblical stories. I know you got hope in you that you dont need to listen to him, but the man is not just as you think he was.

And it was good...simply describes what God did in creation vs the effects of evil that were to come. The rest about human potential and western ideals is mumbo jumbo.

What suffering?? Why do all these videos talk about life's hard times and suffering. It's all self inflicted "suffering" and stress. Name one thing that is suffering?

God created us in HIS IMAGE...does it make atheists GOD-ISTS who practice GOD-ISM?? and is that a deity hate crime?
@stuartmarshall12093 жыл бұрын
and does it make us who don't accept our connection with God also Godists practicing Godism and therefore commit deity hate crimes as well...we condone it and accept it and by default reject the transcendent. The last 200,000 years have been a waste. We haven't evolved an iota. Humanity is an empty shell with no origin and no destiny and no incentive but self-grandiosity and ego and violence and eternal sin against SELF and HUMANITY. The dinosaurs had it easy. They didn't have to worry about wars and jobs and poverty and homelessness and Covid and all human frailties. They were saved from self awareness. God Gave us a gift. If we haven't gotten there after 200.000 years, will we all be GONE before we finally do...
