The worst father is Usopp's father, "Yasopp," because he abandoned his son and wife when she was sick and they were living in poverty.

Vinsmoke Judge, 100%. There are some horrid fathers in One Piece but I can't think of any that does as many of the most extreme, worst things a parent could do as Judge does. (Yes, even a certain father later that's very comparable to Judge is still not as bad imo, but it'd be spoilery to go into why I think that here.)

@@J0AK1NGD My going theory on the rampant missing or terrible parents in manga and anime is that the people working on them are portraying the result of a work culture where parents must sacrifice themselves to their jobs and hardly see their children. "Write what you know" is a common principle, after all.

@@carlosramos8769 This is false. Not only he didn't "abandoned them", he asked ussop mother permission to leave(we don't even know if they were married), and when he left she wasn't sick. She got sick later, when he wasn't there. While is bad that he chose a calling/dream, instead of taking responsability and staying with his family, he didn't just abandoned them, and that is the reason why Ussop still has a good view of his father.

Yeah they did. If you go back to early OP, the same voice was actually used for little Sanji during his first flashbacks with Zeff! I missed that myself at first but later had it pointed out to me as well.

One of the books Sanji is reading in this episode is "Nolan the Liar". It's INSANE to me that when Nami was reading that book back in the Jaya arc Sanji commented that he knew the book because everyone knows in the North Blue, where he was born. And NOW you are getting his backstory in the North Blue.

if you noticed in water seven and enies lobby, sanji is one of the crews who understood usopp's feeling better of being powerless and not strong enough compared to others. I forget that line he said to usopp when fighting CP9 but he was reassuring usopp that he was not a loser or something.

I don’t know if it’s been brought up, but whenever Sanji places his hands around his head, it’s to make sure he still isn’t wearing the metal helmet. The trauma he went through is crazy, and it shows that Odas is always on point with referencing and story points. Excited for the next episodes!!!!!!

This is definitely a painful backstory. Reiju isn't as horrible as the others, but there's a reason why she can't really do anything but what she's doing. Judge is one of the worst, after we had an arc with one of the best dads (Kyros). Nami taking on one of an Emporer's top subordinates is quite something, even if it was just to stall for time. Luffy at best gets captured if she's not there to help him. Just think that Luffy wanted to go to WCI on his own with Pekoms lol.

Fun Fact that you wont get in the anime or Live Action: Black Beard is actually really smart. In an SBS from Oda, he was asked what jobs some pirates would have if they weren't pirates, and it's said that Marshal D. "Black Beard" Teech would be an Archeologist. Which would put him on an historical intellectual level close to Robin... which might also provide off screen reasons why he knows and does the things he knows and does.
