I'm in the same boat as you. Got the X8 several months ago and loved the results I got for the price. Now I'm ready to upgrade and definitely can't justify spending more than $800 on a new bow, but the 10 hits all the sweet spots. Thanks for the review!

The axis x10 is their hunting flagship bow, i believe it starts around 1100, but have not seen any public listings on it yet. The same could've been said about their new budget bow, the dragon x7, just publicly released a couple of weeks ago... just picked one up, the riser, packaging and arrows seem to be the only things they changed from the x8. It starts at 150

Were you able to succesfully paper tune it? I am unable to get quite prominent left tear out when tuning my Dragon 10
@DaveWirth4 ай бұрын
I never paper tuned this bow. I did my best to install the arrow rest at 90 degrees from the string d-loop and it seemed to shoot straight with good arrow flight. When setting up the X8 i did have to mess around with the arrow rest and paper tune it. It took an hour or 2 in the yard - shooting, adjusting the rest, more shooting - until the arrow flight was straight. I have noticed with super-slow motion video, that i can see if the up\down is good. I can see if the back of the arrow dips during launch. Maybe have someone record in super slow motion like at 1:19 and see how the arrow moves?

If you can’t get out a left tear it’s typically due to either grip or an under spined arrow.

How did it do when paper tuning ? I have this bow and I can’t get a left tear out when paper tuning
@DaveWirth3 ай бұрын
I haven't paper tuned it yet. But the arrows shot great from the start. So i didn't mess with the arrow rest.

There are websites where you could put in your arrow weight, draw weight, draw length, IBO speed and it would tell you your expected arrow speed. "Arrow Speed Calculator" v= IBO+(L−30)×10−W/3 +min(0,−(A−5D)/3) where: v - Actual arrow speed in ft/s; IBO - Arrow speed according to the IBO specification in ft/s; L - Draw length in inches; W - Additional weight on the bowstring in grains; A - Arrow weight in grains; and D - Draw weight in pounds.

Any problems getting this dragon 10 tuned for fixed blade broadheads?
@DaveWirth3 ай бұрын
Opening day is today. I haven't shot it with broadheads, but planning to do it in the next week or so. But the arrow flight on field points has been pretty good. But i haven't paper tuned it either.

@@DaveWirth I want to buy it but another reviewer said he could not get his tuned for fixed blades. Mechanicals shot ok.

@@llamawizard Well compared to the cheaper X8, the 10 shoots great. Much tighter groups. But haven't tried broadheads yet. I am going to be shooting the QAD Exodus this year.

con. every time you pull that thing back it makes a noticeable sound.

It's a decent bow but it stacks up pretty bad and dumps HARD into the back wall. Hard enough that it'll trip a decent release.

Go support your local bow shop and buy a used bow. I see Mathews Z7's in my shop all the time for ubder thia price and youre not giving your monwy to China.
@daddski127 күн бұрын
buddy this gets tiring. Your house has 80 to 90 percent items where at least part has been made in China. There are sections of my Mathews v3x made there. Your tv, your bed, mattress, car, kitchen and laundry things. all from asia. Not saying I like this bow, I do not, I would choose any Bear over it. But it is not because a company in china makes it. It is because I think it sucks in too many areas. My Mathews is the first time in 643 years that I did not go with Bear and that only because it was a gift from my amazing wife. I could not afford it without her thing she did. For a newbie or intermediate this is probably a nice bow, I just think other makers have more to offer. With bear for the same price or less you get fantastic accessories and a tried and true setup. but also with them.. some things made overseas... There was a time that made in china meant pure crap but we Americans bought it all because it costed less. NOT SO anymore. Yes some places there still make crap but some have really stepped it up. IF they are your enemy then maybe get the Government to actually do something about them?
