I’m finishing my 71st trip around the local star. My name is also Moore. I just jammed along with a 6 hole Bb pentatonic minor NA flute made from a pit fired “squashed clay pipe”. Crazy Cool! Stoned Flute. Time to “get on the bus”.

Because? You don't think people over 20 have any legitimacy?

@ Not what I meant by my comment. It’s just crazy to see members from some of these indie bands I started listening to as a kid hitting these numbers.

A few years ago I was running 4.5 sec 40's, playing college football, getting married, getting my degree, hitting the workforce, buying a house, wife is pregnant, 2 boys, and I got on Twitter and someone called me "old." I thought to myself - "old?! Ha! I was brushing my teeth getting ready for bed, and I looked in the mirror and took a close look at my face. I thought - "when did I get these wrinkles on my face? The sun must have been brutal over the Summer during Football"....and I asked my wife - "do I look old?" and she said "you look good for a man in his 60's." I'm still in some form of mourning - it's not fair. i'm not ready to be old. I don't want to be old. All this to say - believe me when I tell you....your Indie musician can't believe he's almost 70 either.

Thuston goes prog (at least for the intro which would not have been out of place on any early Henry Cow release). Seriously, though, he has improved as a songwriter and musician throughout his career. I love the underrated ‘Sonic Nurse’ which is a masterpiece.

Interesting, the way the clarinet merges with the guitar at times, particularly the beginning to remind me of a different stringed instrument I can't quire recall.

That's disrespectful, Moore and Sonic Youth are important for experimental punk rock. They inspired all a lot of guitarists to try something different like alternative tuning. Not to take anything away from Fripp, but he's more of a prog rock and jazz musician.

I was a huge Sonic Youth fan until their interview with Nardwaur the Human Serviette. They acted like flat out bullies and even broke one of his records. S.Y was the soundtrack of my miserable youth and to see them act that way to a musical archive and fellow musician I wonder how the world treat a joe shmo fan.😢
@chestyvulva23 сағат бұрын
YES!!!!! I saw that, and it completely turned me off on the band! I saw that the same day I read Kim's book. I threw away all my sonic youth cassettes.

I despise Stephen Colbert's support for the Resnicks and their water hoarding in CA. Maybe he should have a segment on his show discussing it.

Colbert doesn't care! His response to the fires on his first day back on the show was so insincere it was infuriating.

Reading Kim Gordon's books and seeing old interviews of this band, I ended up throwing out all my Sonic Youth cassettes. They acted like little spoiled rich kids. They are so full of themselves, and most of their music isn't even actually good.
