Great comment!!I don't believe people could indulge these guys doing this in 2015. This is pre-Internet and it was a terrific time creatively for those with access to a medium, the rest of us watched, and we had plenty of time to watch. I watch again now, in the vain hope I will be reconnected.

beck was and still is a total rebel. the story of him gigging at a bowling alley and taping the keys so the music would keep playing and leaving, going home then calling the bowling alley and telling them to put the phone up so he could tell them he has already left the set. Just cracks me up.

I've never seen a really young Beck, even tho he's aged nicely, I didn't recognize him at first. I didn't actually start listening to his music until about 4yrs ago, I remember being in 6th grade when I heard my first Beck song, Devil's Haircut, I haven't heard that song in years now, had no idea it was a nod to The Misfits.

This is indeed a classic. I remember seeing this when it first aired and the image of him throwing the shoe stuck in my head. I did remember it wrong, though. In my memory he did this while being interviewed by Barbara Walters. Still, Thurston Moore helping to generate the tangible hipster aggression in the air more than makes up for my faulty memory.
