Legends from different cultures are always fascinating. Hearing you read that poem in Icelandic was cool because even though I do not know Icelandic, it sounded like a poem. Have patience with your language learning. Language acquisition is more of a lifelong process, a journey rather than something you will ever finish. Can’t wait for the other Yule Lad tales. Thanks!

Interesting Jewells. I admit what happens in Iceland during Christmas was not on my radar, but it is cool to learn of other Countries holiday traditions. What you described sounds like PG13 or greater in what Western youth might be exposed to. The threat of eating naughty children would probably have no more effect on wayward kids (here or there) than getting coal in the stocking or a good whoppin' from Pa from doing those naughty deeds. I like potatoes? Peace.
@AllThingsIceland23 күн бұрын
Glad you enjoyed learning about this. Quite young kids are told about Grýla and the Yule Lads but I’m sure they grow out of taking it seriously quite fast. I also like potatoes but I would definitely choose a gift over getting one during Christmas 😂 Thanks for commenting 😊
@johnsimon298823 күн бұрын
@@AllThingsIceland Yep, good luck getting that potato to grow in Iceland, huh. And no McDonalds there so no Mickey D fries. THAT I would miss although I don't eat as many as I use to. Yum! Peace.

Oh my old potatoes can with lots of them around actually produce dangerous noxious gasses I believe🙃
@AllThingsIceland23 күн бұрын
Oh, interesting. I doubt many, if any, kids these days get old potatoes. They are probably getting relatively new potatoes. At least I hope so.

Jewells‼️ Bravo on fearlessly reading in Icelandic‼️I know you have put such effort in formally learning the language. I have no basis for comparison, but you appear as sincerely trying to enunciate properly.....sounds great to me‼️☺️ 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Looking forward to your daily poems and personal takes on the motives and actions of the yule lads‼️🎄💯

Thanks for that interesting Christmas tradition. It’s good to learn about how Christmas is celebrated in other parts of the world. Love your Icelandic cardigan. I still want to visit the yarn stores in Iceland. I just need to plan it. Is winter a good time to visit? I prefer visiting places when too many tourists aren’t around. 💕

Jewells has a video on this channel about visiting Iceland in December, and I think she just posted a new video about Winter Markets in Iceland. Apparently, it's a good time to visit Reykjavik at least.
