Funny story. In the late 70s I had a female best friend. Then one afternoon, out of curiosity, we decided to go past the friend stage just once. She was petite and at the height of the act she was hitting High Cs with her voice. On my drive home, Europe came on the radio. I suddenly understood the song! Those same High Cs are in the song Europe at the height of the song (listen for it yourself). I now realized that the whole song is very Freudian. It starts out slowly and builds to an orgasm. Then slows down to an "afterglow". You almost end up tired and spent emotionally at the end of the song.

this song has a memory for me. some years ago I had a friend who passed away. they had his body laying in his bed, in his house for the visitation. he had a crazy girlfriend who was there. she asked me to go in the room with her. weird, but OK. I went. she put this song on the stereo, shut the door, and turned the lights out. she grabbed me and she bawled and wailed on my shoulders all the way thru the song. understand, i have no problem with trying to comfort someone who is mourning. but this woman was just flat using me. afterwards she walked out of the room effectively dismissing me. I felt faintly soiled by the experience, truth be told. I didn't really like her. no one there did. so I have this memory in my head about a narcissistic crazy woman I barely knew bawling and snotting on my shoulder in the dark with a corpse nearby, and santana blasting on the stereo. forgetting all that, it is an amazing song. pity I have that memory to tarnish my perception of it.

Grande chitarrista ,ha fatto unire e lavorare insieme non solo i grandi artisti, ma ha fatto emergere anche i giovani..un pò sbandati,nelle strade della miseria e guerre idiote cover West side story.. Non m' interessa sè è perfetto o no ma lo è stato il suo impegno nel sociale Mentre cresceva dava spazio anche agli altri e voglio ricordare inoltre ,il centro antiviolenza che aveva fondato ,per accogliere donne e bambini in grave difficoltà. Non ha fatto forse grande risonanza ma parte del suo guadagno lo aveva devoluto lì,tra la sua gente meno fortunata.
