Something I notice about the way Carlos plays is that he uses silence to his advantage. Sometimes, the best parts of his solo is when he stops playing to let what he just played set in for a second. That's something that every musician can learn from, the usefulness of silence.

Everytime this guy and his band come close to St Louis I go and see them. 1st time was in the '70s and just saw him again in St Louis with the Doobie Brothers 2 weeks ago and it was freaking unbelievable. He brought out the Doobie Bros and they did an awesome ad lib set of songs that was not rehearsed at all and they ROCKED THE HOUSE DOWN! Stayed til the last note! Man was it good! After they had played most of the night, his wife did a drum solo that puts every drummer I have ever heard to shame. She is a master of the kit. I have played in rock bands for the last 45 years and that lady can drum for me anytime. She is damn good! Loved it Cindy Blackman! You go girl!!!

@fenderbluesman657 жыл бұрын
I stumbled across this and was reading the comments about the differences between Rosas and Hidalgo. To me Hidalgo seems to be more at home in the blues than Rosas, also his tone is spot on. Partly because of technique, partly because of amp choice and never under estimate the warmth and growl of the rosewood fretboard. All my guitars have rosewood fretboards for that very reason...TONE and SUSTAIN.

It's a G&L ASAT. They aren't p90's. They are Leo's last word on his ultimate vision for Tele tone. Idk about you, but I heard all that Tele cut, even from the neck...but it was still juicy..nowhere the dryness you can sometimes get from a lot of bite. It was great tone - I hafta check out an ASAT in person. But it still did touch Santana's tone! That rich, juicyness...and huge big LP round, thick tone. Full of tonal depth and character, just waiting for Carlos to exploit it!
