Hello, Terry. You continue to share awesome adventures. My husband took a ferry to Santorini in college in 1968 with friends. Their boat was much smaller and the waves were huge so everyone got sick without those classy vomit bags. Also, their anchor locked onto the chain of another ferry and the solution was to cut away the anchor. We still have some dramatic photos of that endeavor!

Part of our 3 week Greek vacation included a week cruise which stopped at Santorini. It was the worst port for us…..between the chaos of getting up and down/to and from Fira, to the crowds……our worst day. Although we did have a great lunch with a great view, the crowds were terrible with two other ships in port. Im sure there are much nicer parts of the island than Fira and Oia. But if you are on a cruise, see the island from the ship!

Hi you went to Santorini on a real windy day white caps I saw thru the window watching the video. OMG the way the boat rocked can imagine how you all felt. We had lots of wind in Mykonos this trip. I came down with a sore throat/ cold while there. The last two days were the best weather. We flew back on Sat. 10/23rd. Glad you stayed there longer. Wow so many people were there in Santorini… what an experience you had going up on that bus ride. Looks like you enjoyed seeing as much as possible in the short time there. Amazing views!!!!! My next trip I want to see Santorini So thanks for showing us around!!!! Going back on the ferry looked like a lot of fun! loved it

One person's misery is another person's fun, right lh? Despite the uncomfortable parts of the trip Santorini was beautiful and well worth visiting. I would plan it differently next time, probably fly in and stay a few nights or take a bigger ship lol.

Yes totally agree! A friend of mine from the states has been there a few times has given me many tips what to see and how to get there too! Just came back from being in Greece showed me a video from the ferry omg people were really sick. Fast boats are definitely not worth taking. Best is from Athens then fly to Santorini!!! She loved Milos this trip & Chania

This will help us choose our mode of transportation to Santorini, whether to take a ferry or to fly. The ferry makes people sea sick too. My husband is Greek and we rent a small car when in Greece. He knows the terrain and has been to most areas and islands. You can be driven or take the steps to the top of the island Santorini. I want to ride a donkey because I love horses and animals. For me, because I am Irish, the biggest issue I have is protecting myself from the sun.

I told Svetlana on the ride over I was buying a plane ticket to fly back lol. I ended up taking the boat and it was fine which surprised me. I think the wind direction has a lot to do with it but this was a reminder to me of why I'm sticking to airplanes going forward.

Allan miraculously I didn't get seasick but was queasy the entire ride. I must say, the ride back was a piece of cake. Not sure if the wind at our backs had something to do with it or all that great music just made the time fly. Thanks brother!

Just walk 50 m off the ferry to the taverna. Order a frosty pint on the terrace. The crowds will disappear in 15 minutes. You will be offered a taxi ride while sipping your beer. No stress, good times

My last visit was in April 2022 and it was the off season. A little cooler but far fewer crowds and the scenery was just as pretty. I have a video of the visit on my channel

lol I agree Brigitte. Once was enough for me. In fairness to the island, I think you just have to time it right with the season and also cruise ships disembarking. There were several cruise ships that let people off while we were there.

There is a boat scene when Zorba goes to crete.🤢 Great movie filmed on Crete. You can even visit the house where Zorba lived in Stavros, close to Chania. Maybe next time you're there. 😃
