​been a hot while since I read it so take it with a grain of salt, but the general gist is that this dude wasn't so smart at the start, and when undergoing a science experiment that increased his intelligence by a large margin. Eventually though, he slowly began reverting to his original intelligence and he began having trouble understanding the things he wrote down in a journal when he was intelligent.
