Left the Texas Hill Country to fly to Oregon and take care of mom for a couple months...two years of Covid, two broken legs and one stroke ago. Mom's falling apart and I'm still here. Then I was walking my dog late through a dark moonlit night and suddenly on the dew there was a magnificent aroma. Night flowers blooming as a great horned owl whooo-ed and your peaceful music popped into my head. The sliver of a waning moon smiled sideways among the stars. I wasn't quite so lonely, the night embraced my senses, your music still echoed in my heart. Hey, thanks for the song. Maybe someday I'll walk that road with a loved one by my side, too.

You and Me Lyrics by Sara Watkins I remember the night I remember the sound I remember the light When the moon came 'round The night flowers bloomed The air so sweet I remember you I remember me Central Valley sunshine Run out of town Make your head all funny So you stick around Dusty roads Make dirty feet I remember you I remember me I remember the night I remember the sound I remember the light When the moon came 'round The night flowers bloomed The air so sweet I remember you I remember me Wish I knew you now Like I knew you then For hours I just sit at your feet And listen When I want To feel free I remember you I remember me I remember the night I remember the sound I remember the light When the moon came 'round The night flowers bloomed The air so sweet I remember you I remember me Found myself at your place When I was out walking I could hear your piano And I swear I could hear you sing And the joy we shared as we tarry there I remember you I remember me I remember the night I remember the sound I remember the light When the moon came 'round The night flowers bloomed The air so sweet I remember you I remember me I remember you I remember me I remember you

I always thought of Sara Watkins as a very good fiddler who could do backup vocals. But I'm coming to like her singing more and more. She has a nice voice and the feeling she puts in her songs is special.

In I'm With Her she usually (and rightly) gets preferred for the most difficult parts over Sarah Jarosz and Aoife O'Donovan-- both of whom I absolutely love. It's no slight to say Sara is the best singer of the three. Watch their cover of "Hannah Hunt" for a good example of this.

Hi Sara - this is such a delightful song. I just heard it for the first time - if you can believe that - on KPIG in Freedom, California. Your music is some of the type of music that KPIG loves to play. It is not easy writing a song like you wrote here. It may have been for you this time, but I bet not. I've been writing songs off and on for 50 years and I've found that it is songs like You and Me that are the most difficult to write. KPIG played a tune by Cactus Blossoms probably two songs after they played You and Me. They're like the Everyly Brothers reincarnate. I love their sound! Love your band on this 2012 version. You have a really nice voice! It's the type of voice that I know who I'm listening to when I hear it. Not everyone has this quality.
...awesome song...i hear some bright eyes...and the ragbirds...this could be a cool codfish hollow concert...
