Honestly, in a weird way, I think one of the reasons why some people are upset just because it's Sasuke's daughter. Sounds kinda silly but Naruto has been around for so long and basically came apart of people's lives. Maybe in some weird way, people are seeing her as there own? Eida and other girls is different I guess because they're random. No one really has a problem till it hits close to home imo. Might be a bit of a reach but I dunno. I'm very protective of my younger sister who.has shown a little more skin as she's gotten older, its nothing crazy but it bothers me personally just because I'm protective. For me, it's the fact that in her original design, as he (youtuber) said, when she was suppose to be only 12/13, her then pants also barely covered her hips, leaving some scenes to give you the full view depending on the angle he (creator) chose to have her drawn in. And now, as soon as he made her older, he jumped right back into having her in a new "barely covering her hips" outfit, giving way to start doing those shots/angles again. So to me it kind of looks like he was just waiting for the moment when he could have her turn 16/17, just so he could hurry and put her back into the "more skin/shorter clothing" outfit he originally envisioned her in as a kid without as much backlash this time. Had those shots/angles not been there when the character was only around 12, I wouldn't have minded her new outfit. As far as I can remember, none of the female characters in the main Naruto pre shippuden series were drawn in angles/gives scenes with those shots due to their outfits, so their more revealing outfits in Shippuden didn't give off a "here the shonin genre/serie's creator goes again" feeling connecting the two outfits/the pre teen and teen version of the character, to what is a very tired/old cliche to have to watch at this point (and I also can't recall the characters getting drawn like that while in their more "skin showing" outfits of Shippuden either, so again, the shippuden outfits themselves didn't become a "sceptical-eyebrow-raising" thing). If Kishimoto doesn't end up using Sarada's new outfit as a way/excuse to "show off" her body through panty shots and other similar angles/shot, I'm gonna be very happy (and again, my scepticism about the reason for her new outfit will fade), but the fact that he already did when the character was a pre teen, and so now as she's in fact/actually within Japan's legal age of consent. Again, it just makes it look like he couldn't wait to get back into drawing his main female character in more suggestive/"show off" poses again, now as she's closer to a grown up. Anyway that's just my two cents on the matter.

Now I'm not one of those hypocrites - Boruto and Naruto is the only anime universe i watch and ever will I actually chose it because I played a good game that involved it and it was relatively sexually tame compared to others, so I will say this: Idc about subjective opinions, a lot more of the female body has sexual value than the male body. Males are far more attracted to female bodies themselves rather than the female than females are to males - thats how that is. Women in the west realised this. You go back a few hundred years not just women in the west women everywhere dressed like Muslim women do today, but eventually the sexual marketplace started up - one women decided to show some leg another some cleavage another some hair etc etc and we get to present day. I disagree with one of the key points that this video makes - JUST because a normal teenager today dresses a certain way does NOT validate that. As far as I'm concerned, especially in our generation, teenage girls spend a lot of their time sleeping around (as do teenage boys, dont worry i find that equally disgusting), so trying to morally justify this design with this argument is baseless. One of the other key points ppl are missing is the rebellious bitchy feminist haircut she has - short hair in women is associated with promiscuity, lesbianism and the like - maybe thats another reason people have problems with her design.

I remember hearing about this and from what I remember, a lot of the male fans were mad that Sarada had short hair and wasn't "curvy" or "feminine-looking" enough (while pretending that they were mad about her outfit when their reimagined versions of time-skip Sarada have her in skimpier outfits and showing a lot more skin) while a lot of the female fans were mad that Kishimoto put her in super-high stiletto heels (that wouldn't be practical for fights or provide enough comfortable foot support).

I'm so glad someone said this with a platform to spread this info. As someone who works with teen girls of all ages (mainly 10-18) Sarada's design felt like a teen girl's would. She's a strong ninja who can also dress like a girl, because that what she IS. I'm tired of the double standards as well, so thank you for pointing this out. Even as somebody from the Bible belt, I felt this was a rather modest design and was surprised to hear outrage against it for not showing more skin tbh. The point that she's not very large in the chest is a very good point so thank you for saying it. I have mad respect for you for your research and understanding of both genders and other cultures. As mentioned, what gets me about this case/example is that he included those scenes when Sarada is suppose to be as young as around 12 years old. And as mentioned, the fact that this wasn't anything that Kishimoto included in the original Naruto series, the fact that he did so now with Sarada gives off a "really? You're doing this too now?", and "Oh, I "wonder" why he would make her new outfit so similar looking - lenght vice - to the one she had as a kid that he got backlash about" feeling/vibe. Like, he already suddenly included it with a young character, so how much is he gonna go out/so how hard is he gonna lean on that cliche now that she's more mature/grown? True, there's Tsunade, but I don't recall him ever drawing a scene of her breasts, soley for the purpose of just showing off her breasts (although I haven't read the series in years, so I could be wrong). The complaint about Salad's outfit, in a manner, also stems from the 'fear' certain fans have. Characters like Orihime are accepted as minor characters and being used as weird comedic service. Salad, on the other hand, is considered the female co-lead of Boruto and fans want her to bring something more to the Boruto Two Blue Vortex story instead of being sidelined, as she was during the final bunch of Boruto chapters, and being used for fan service. Honestly they're only mad just to give Boruto more hate, I understood Sarada's pre time skip design only because of the super short skirt on a 12 year old but her design now isn't even bad. P1 she completely believed the hokage (naruto), was oblivious to her dads and rest of her families past, and was a very by the book type of person. P2 she obviously knows what happened with her father even more damning itachi most likely, her best friend is framed for the murder of the person she looks up most and she definitely hears what the people are saying about sasuke when in reality he and boruto are saving them. She’s defying the leaf while not going too far and her outfit helps show it. I personally dig it. On the sexualizing argument side of things. That’s just straight up blasphemy. She shows legs and damn collar bone.

Your reasoning actually led to the backlash the Boruto fans got from old Indonesian weebs. We had a street fashion show called "Citayam Fashion Week" and most of them were attended by stereotypically not-really-good-looking teenagers aged 12-18. it's following the trend of what we saw in the original manga. Kunoichi wearing heels isn't new or groundbreaking and it was never shown slowing them down in combat. Not every kunoichi was wearing flat footed footwear in naruto's manga.
