have you ever read english literature? informal american english can sound very primitive because americans love slang and abbreviations. and obviously, since america is pretty much based around immigrants, refugees, colonialists and former slaves, people have all kind of different accents, so hardly anyone speaks the stereotypical oxford english that the early british settlers probably still spoke. and if we are talking about germans: the average german struggles with its own language (especially grammar and spelling) all the time and even with traditional dialects are dying out, people who actually speak good standard german are rare outside of academia.

No one says "Dickbauch". That's not even a word. And there are no reasons. The Dec 6th ist Nikolaus Day. Not Christmas. Children have to be kind the year and clean there shoes the evening before 6th. The Nikolaus (Sant Nikolaus ) comes and bring them sweets and nuts and put them into the shoes. It's all wrapped. How ever... Christmas is at 24th eve. And it's Called holy eve (Heilig Abend). And that's the eve Jesus was born... If you belive so.

By god which german talks like that except for maybe Berlin people. Here in austria, especially in vienna, the german dialect is very soft. Why does everyone think it is that harsh? Because Nazis? Wow...

Yes, blame the Nazis. it's always the nazis. Nazis are bad people. But maybe there's some Nice nazis.

The shoes or socks are filled with candy at the sixth of December. If you were a naughty child, you find a birch rod instead of candy in your sock/sock!

This is all so wrong. xD I mean, do you hang worn socks over the chimney? Same thing. "Lebkuchen" isn't that bad btw. but it's like saying, that every American loves BeanBoozled Jelly Beans. And don't you forget the hundreds of german words you use in the US, like Kindergarten, Doppelgänger or Poltergeist. ;)

I'm German and I don't know the word "Dickbauch" for Christmas and I don't know pepper candies. My parents used to fill my shoes with christmas chocolate when I was a child. And btw we don't scream when we celebrate christmas. But I guess it's funny for Americans to think that Germans would do this

I forgot her mom was German. Sarah has a thick accent, seems like they didn't speak it much when she was growing up (same as Michael Fassbender).

Heidi Klum once proved otherwise on this show. So Americans don't know gingerbread? Dickbauch doesn't exist. What a whacky story by Chalke.

It´s complicated. Santa Claus is a part of the "Weihnachtsmann", the christmas man. The Weihnachtsmann is a mixture of different german and northern europe traditions and figures, also the guy from the old Coke promotions.
