Decades ago, I was at a surgi-center in Chicago for my initial arthroscopy for what ended up being stage IV endometriosis. Same thing....the damage was far greater than expected, I had to be closed up and re-admitted to a hospital for more extensive surgery. I know it's a shock to get such a diagnosis, and hear about your treatment options. Happy to answer any questions you might have, but I'm sure your doc has been very thorough with her explanations. Such a Blessing that through the "Cyst" they were able to find the endometriosis & take care of both issues & have a plan for how to proceed from here. I've had 7 abdominal surgeries plus an ovarian cyst the size of a softball that luckily did not need surgery. Don't let the post op blues get to you, it is normal. Also, keep a pillow over your tummy! Before your 3 weeks are over, Jack will bump you or Derik might bump you in his sleep & IT WILL HURT! Also, if you feel a cough or sneeze coming, have Derik pull down on both sides of the pillow, it will greatly reduce the pain from them. Double check with your Dr but that is what I was advised and practiced. It works! God Bless all 3 of you!
@elizabethkoobs10603 жыл бұрын
Yes, Sarah, keep a pillow over your abdomen as a safety measure. When you need to cough or sneeze, you can use the pillow for support, by pressing on the pillow over your abdomen. I hope that made sense.💜

Endometriosis affected every part of my life from age 17 until I discovered Motrin, Which was prescription in those days.....worked like a miracle for endometriosis. For years until I had early menopause, 42ish... I could function better but still had pain. I had a couple early miscarriages but never had a child. My longtime usage of NSAIDS, which no one knew were so dangerous, led to kidney/liver later in my life. Surgery was never offered to me. In the early years I was given prescription opioids. It's a wonder I did not get addicted...but I did not. I'm 73 now. Glad Sarah had options, good care and good recovery, as we know.. She & Derek now have a 2nd child! Isn't it great! .

I'm also an Endo girl and when your moon cycle comes along aleve is one of the best for the pain. I was lucky enough to have a OB GYN parent. I was taking naproxyn/aleve when it still needed a perscription and was called anaprox, I was 13 with endo. Don't take it before bed, it will keep you up all night(no idea why, happens to my sister too) and make sure to take it with food and liquid. Yayy ovary saved, I know the birth control set back is hard. Remember your body needs time to heal and be strong and healthy to carry a baby. Check out the SIBO diet or foods to heal the gut. Gut healing is the key to body health. I am on a program now called BetrHealth that has been teaching me clean eating to heal the gut. That endometriosis was a major cause of so much. Wishing you speedy recovery and good health and happiness. I believe you will be good. @lorriefinley31293 жыл бұрын
@ Mathabata Khathide Removing your uterus won't affect your ovaries. It is always best to keep your ovaries when young because your body needs these hormones. If its just one ovary that's getting the cysts, the option could be to remove that one. But the condition causing it remains. Its a matter of determining the underlying condition. The best start to finding it is 1 of 2 in either order: go to an Endocrinologist and have your hormone levels checked and get them in balance. See a Ob-Gyn that specializes in disorders of the reproductive system. They usually do the hormone blood tests themselves. Just because you may not be experiencing any symptoms right now doesn't mean the condition isn't progressing. Its important to be evaluated. I also had an Ovarian Cyst "pie slice" removed when I was 20 while studying to by a RN.

Derik would make a great pro physician. His patients would be worried and he’d say something like “… it’s a freak show in there…” made me giggle as I had worried face 😟 as he was explaining everything. Then, the worried expression went away as he continued to explain away the event. Sarah, believe it or not, Jack, like all other babies… have this innocent KNOWing. Babies are more intelligent than adults realize. He can’t express in words right now but, watch how careful he will be around you until you fully recover. Jack also have great parents with great parenting knowledge and that alone speaks for itself. The more rest you get, the quicker you will heal and the sooner you’ll be back to swinging Jack from side to side, chasing him and lifting him up in the air to swoop in for his wonderful hugs and kisses. For now, accept those side kisses, the kisses from Jack where Dr. Derik holds Jack in the air from behind you when you’re sitting on a chair or couch, and you receive those warm sugar smacks and neck hugs from Jack ❤️❤️❤️ I’ve been in your shoes too many times to count and around your age too. Only you have a better support system than I had. No complaints, just letting you know, it appears you have a wonderful man that truly loves you. Continue the love you have for each other and get the proper rest you need in order to heal without complications. That hunk of a King that you married, protect and care for his Queen and Prince….he has it all under control. I say *appears because I don’t know your entire life. 🙂 We all have ups n downs…. It’s called reality. And no one escapes or is exempt from it. Anyways… S/N Derik is gorgeous and so are you just know, I’m not after him… he’s old enough to be my son! Eeeesh, not knocking it if that’s how some like it… it’s just not for me😆

I can understand how you both feel. I went in for surgery last year with Stage 4 endometriosis. It is a challenging time but you will get better and stronger in no time 😊. IUD definitely helps slow down the progression of this chronic condition. My surgeon also did mention that breastfeeding a child for a long time can help slow disease progression. The analogy she used was estrogen is like lawn fertilizer and progesterone is like a lawn mower. While pregnant/breast feeding you are swimming in Progesterone and that helps control the endometrial tissue. It is sad that this issue is not as widely discussed as it should be. I suffered for 20 years with this issue and was taken seriously only in 2019. You will be fine. Stay strong.

My heart goes out to you and my thoughts and prayers are with you. In the course of four years I had five ovarian cysts and ended up losing the Ovary. So as you described the pain I immediately thought Oh no, I hope she doesn’t have endometriosis. As that was what I learned I had, and eventually I had to have a hysterectomy. Back in the 70s they were not using lasers yet to eradicate endometriosis. I am so thankful for medical progress and that the doctor was able to clean up the area and detach the scar tissue that attaches to other organs and tissue. Your husband was stellar in his support and care of you. You are truly blessed.

I’m glad they found it sooner rather than later. I’ve had it since I was a teenager and it only got worse from my first c-section, but didn’t know until I was 39. I’m 43 now and it’s under control, for the most part. No more babies for me though 😂. On the brighter side, my husband only had to look at me for me to get pregnant a few more times lol. They way medicine is these days, I wouldn’t worry about fertility. Just try to relax and think positive. Another bonus, no more of that awful, debilitating pain every month. Praying for you guys🤗

I feel for you. I suffered for so long with cysts and endometriosis. I tried countless birth controls, multiple surgeries, and was told in high school that I wouldn't be able to have children. I was surprised when I found out that I was pregnant with my miracle baby and had my son when I was 22. Two years later I had to have a hysterectomy. I was one of the unfortunate one that my endometriosis destroyed everything. I could never get it to slow down. Thank goodness they know so much more now about the disease. All I can say is keep up with all your appointments and stay active. The more you sit still the higher the pain level can be. Again I feel for you and I am send get well soon wish

Prayers for a speedy recovery Sarah, hopefully being on meds for a few months your body will be nicely prepared for baby #2. I know y'all were planning on baby #2 soon after surgery, but remember the Bible says that God's ways are higher than our ways; also the mind of man plans his way but the Lord directs his steps... Open your Bibles and be reminded of the hope God gives His children. Derrick you are a wonderful caregiver, and Jack brings the comic relief. You are a precious family, thank you for sharing your lives with us.

Oh I know what you are going through. After I had my 2nd son in 2006 I developed a cist on my left ovarie. In February of 2007 I had my period the entire month so my OB/GYN said it would be best to have a hysterectomy because we knew we didn't want anymore children. I cried when I couldn't pick up my boys who were 3 and 1 at the time. I understand how she feels when it comes to Jack. Praying for a Speedy Recovery 🙏

I had 5 laparoscopies in 2 years in my 30’s for ovarian cysts and endometriosis so I completely understand! I had good years between 32 and 43 and was so grateful. I was able to save my ovaries and uterus until I was 43 years old when I finally had to have everything removed. I didn’t get married until I was almost 40 so I never had any kids. I’m sure that the past 20 years have seen a lot of improvements in treatments and you will do just fine!

I’m so glad they discovered, and got rid of, the endometriosis. That stuff is indescribably PAINFUL! It will be like heaven not experiencing that every month. Cysts can be really painful too, but when you were describing your pain it sounded just like endometriosis pain. It would literally, physically, bring me to my knees sometimes (which got as embarrassing at times as it was painful). It can sometimes even get worse during pregnancy because of the stretching of the displaced tissue, so even if you may need to wait a couple of months to get pregnant again, just think of how much easier the pregnancy may be! Sending love your way💕
