yooo congrats! as a dad of two, my unsolicited piece of “wisdom” when mentally preparing for the new baby is that 2 isn’t just 1 more than 1, it is twice as many as 1. it helped me a bit to conceptualize it this way although nothing ever fully prepares you for anything when it comes to parenting. anyway best of luck!

Idk if you guys read these but; having a second kid doesn't double the difficulties and the joy - its squares it. It's love and pain squared. Not only do you get to enjoy (and have to worry) about your first child, but you get to enjoy (and worry) about your second child INCLUDING the new relationship between you guys, AND between the kids. You create a whole new dimension when playing both of them and an even more rare dimension of getting one on one time with each of them. It's absolutely insane and impossible to wrap your head around. Like some sort of love and pain quantum entanglement. Doubt that made any sense. Congrats!!!

Also love real disagreements about silly things; one of the first genuine disagreements me and my partner got into when we first started dating was whether to break the pasta or not when cooking it (like do you put the spaghetti in whole or break it in half). So glad your'e both safe! I remember evacuating from a fire near San Diego/Poway/Encinatas, and you really don't have time to think truly before you go. Hindsight is 20/20. You just grab your most prized possessions, clothes, etc and then you get out. It's a question of "do i take my time and maybe get stuck in clogged traffic, or do I rush and get out?"
