To me Buffy was not a gay icon because of the "coming out as a slayer" phase but because of her character. She was different than the "normal" girls. She was strong, smart, funny, a bit of weirdo and very attractive. I wanted to be like her. I was 10 and she was my first girl crush. I didn't know I was a lesbian, I realized that many years later.

Thank you @attitudemag and Ola Awosika for this interview. I’ve seen Sarah Michelle Gellar give quite a few interviews in these clothes and probably on the very day you spoke to her. This is the only interview I’ve seen that shows a broader scope of her potential. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed watching the other interviews about Daphne’s wardrobe. But you gave her the opportunity to be her authentic self in stead of letting her sell a product or jump through the hoops of a formatted questionnaire. And that hits different.

She is just so wonderful and coherent. I grew up watching Buffy and would run home in time to watch it. I really gravitated to the show a gay teen. There was just something comforting in it. Plus, it was so huge when we got to see Willow/Tara kiss as it was something we never really saw on TV then. It felt like a little victory for all the LGBT kids at the time. I also love her in Cruel Intentions, I just love the film as a whole as well.
