The Royal Variety show is a charity event with singers, comedians and entertainers held yearly at a London Theatre in front of members of the royal family who are patrons of the charities it supports. The hour and a half show was broadcast on TV a few days later.

The Royal Variety Performance is an annual event which raises money for charity, I believe that, although it is not mandatory, the vast majority of performers and people behind the scenes give their time for free. It’s been going since 1912.

The Beatles performed at the Royal Variety Show in 1964/5 and John Lennon used one his throw away socially aware witticisms to introduce a song when he said “ we will need some Help for our next song can those in the front seats rattle your Jewellery and rest of you just clap your hands” went down a storm

Being Scottish and of a seten age it has to be Simple Minds Waterfront. In fact we moved to Englan Surry in 1986 talk about culture shock we were from Glasgow. But we got very knowen and sometimes the DJ would play this when going into a ball, odd but very nice.

I thought The Royal variety show , the turns or acts were picked by The Royals . I you try and see Tommy Copper . A very funny man who was in the Magic Circle and messed hes magic up on purpose , This show , Tommy has a sword on stage on a table Half way throuh the act he stops , picks up the sword offers the handle to The Royal Box and takes a knee .
