I’ve heard that being an “empath” is the result of trauma, as in growing up in an unsafe environment where as a child you had to become extra vigilant and aware of the mood states of others (especially care takers) to know how to respond and stay safe. Also that the empathic response can become subtly manipulative. I wonder if anyone else has thoughts on this? It makes me think of ACA stuff…

I think it is a coincidence more. A fake correlation. A false positive. Spiritually it is the most advanced Souls who deliberately take the "lowest and harshest" childhood circumstances. For added spiritual growth. The lessons from a troublesome childhood are almost unmeasurable. It is easy to love a parent who is always kind. Hard with someone who is often abusive.

Wow I was one of those empaths who people pleased until i got burnt out 😢😢 it started off with a rough childhood and after that kept attracting even rougher experiences that at times my heart could not bare. This year I definitely was called to deepen my relationship with God and heal myself, taking it easy & remembering to breath. I think there are many people who are only just awakening and feeling these energies so it won't feel so bad. If you are tuned differently you won't like it and could find it very overwhelming. I personally am not enjoying the rate of every day coming so quickly like being on a carousel! I have little good to say of these changes.

Now that I heard your definity of a toxic relationship, I can say honestly that probably my last relationship 6 years ago was just that super toxic in the sense there was no boundaries, there was only chaos and control, lots of making love.
