Sarah Bisgaard Hi. Usually, when I see questions like this, I look at the KZbinr and immediately know that it’s because they have a supportive partner. Now I’m not saying that Sarah’s partner isn’t supportive by any means but what we see here is Sarah doing it alone ! And she is still SO content with life. I wish I could be like her !

I am so thankful we have youtubers like you to encourage us, to shop sustainably, etc.. I am a student, and now I don't have ANY time whatsoever to cook (even if I love to cook) so nowadays, I can't go to the farmer's market, or non package shops, but I just bought a menstrual cup, I use refillable mugs and my glass bottle as much as I can (I work at Starbucks so it's suóo sad when I have to sell so many plastic and paper), I don't buy my fruits and vegs in plastic, and I try to use my fabric bags for pastry. I also am a landscape architect student, and my thesis subject will be creating sustainable tiny houses and botanic garden in Hungary so it can be more popular in our country :)

I turn my old clothes into new clothes for my kids. I'm currently turning a maxi skirt I'm not longer fond of, and a dress from when I graduated, into a pretty little dress for my almost 4 year old! I shop thrift stores for clothes that I can use for fabric. I knit hats instead of buying them. I buy in bulk bins with dry goods canvas bags instead of buying things wrapped up in plastic. I've never tried to repair furniture yet though, so that's amazing!!!

I also use reusable makeup wipes and reusable q-tips. I also don't buy regular toothpaste anymore. We use toothpaste tablets that even come in a glass jar! I also use these organic cotton dryer balls, that are amazing! Also I don't buy traditional shampoo, conditioner, or body wash anymore. Instead I use shampoo bars, conditioner bars, and body wash bars. I do a whole lot of other things that are waste free but those are some :)

I have a reusable water bottle and coffee cup (which I need to use more). I just invested in bamboo straws. I got bamboo toothbrushes for my partner and I. I use the menstral cup and it's a rule in our house now that we have to use up what we have first before we buy anything new, and that is food items, body care items, you name it. This has saved us so much money :) Thank you Sarah

I don't shop until and unless I need something. I use second hand clothes. 4. I carry my reusable coffee mug and water bottles at all times. 5. I am currently using a second hand phone. So reuse is the key. 8. I don't buy processed meat. And minimizing meat consumption as much as possible. 9. I declutter and donate. I love doing so. 10. @@jules4729 It's nothing to feel embarrassed about. To me a thrift store is just another store. If you don't feel comfortable to ask some friends to go shopping then go alone (sometimes it's not as fun). Then show your mom or friends what you got and then they may be more inclined to go with you next time. However if you don't want to go alone ask! The worst thing that could happen is they say no. My biggest tip is don't be embarrassed, thrifting is so much fun and so rewarding.

Cora Vukosich Just a tip: your shoes will last a lot longer if you never wear the same ones 2 days in a row. So having 2-3 of each kind of shoe you might wear daily during a certain time of year makes better lpng term sense, sustainability wise. Example, because I work out 5-6 times a week I have at least 3 pairs of sneakers/trainers at any given time. For the rainy season I always have 2-3 pairs of boots, very different from each other. For Spring/Summer I have a few pairs of comfy sandals. They will all wear down less overall and more gradually at that. As a bonus this tends to be kinder to our feet and less likely to cause odor. Learning to care for my shoes has been a part of the process for me. Still learning, and I have definitely not been great at maintaining all of my sustainability experiments, but this one has held.
@corachristel
@corachristel 5 жыл бұрын
Great tips but I can't afford to do that. I live in a family of 8 and we just simply don't have the funds to buy more than one pair of shoes and one pair of boots for everyone in the family. It kinda sucks that being more sustainable is so much more expensive up front. 😢

We only buy organic and mostly local food. Whenever we buy clothes they will be sustainably made and local. We never use unorganic products so a very natural lifestyle. 🌍

That's such a cute little chair. I don't think I've ever really grabbed something good on the side of the road either...I guess kind of my neighbor moved out of her rental and left a nice broom, a mop, and some little utensil crocks for in the kitchen so I texted her and made sure it really was stuff she didn't want and I took that stuff... I also have found stuff people lost in the middle of nowhere like hats and water bottles and taken that because I didn't think they were coming back for it anyways...but never stuff that had like a free sign it usually looks broken and crappy lol.

I almost only buy ”new” clothing from thrift stores or thread up. When I want new stuff, I look on poshmark, Facebook market place, or mercari. I produce a lot of waste due to being chronically ill. I take a lot of medications and they come with a ton of excess packaging. I recycle everything I can. I live in a very small town, so it takes a ton of work, but I hope it helps. Due to my illnesses and my soul, I eat dairy and meat free most of the time so I hope that helps the world a little too. I do what I can with the very small/nonexistent financial earnings (I'm still living with my family at 22 for many reasons), chronic illnesses that affect literally everything, and the small town I live in. I agree that it's going to change the world that if everybody does something vs someone doing everything. I think that it should encourage people to just try and know that every ”little” thing you do makes a difference.

I try to do what I can to be environmentally friendly. I have been using cloth napkins for years and keep a glass container in my car so I don’t have to use disposable containers if I don’t eat all of my food when I go out.

I have four chairs that I got from the garbish and they are fantastic. I clean them and made new inners and outers that I can take off and put in the wash and they are fluffy and very durable. They are metal and I have them for 4-6 years. I just had bought our table and I only had some stools that were not as comfy. When I got them I thought they wouldn't be good and that they would discuss me because the foam was all ripped and dirty but the structure was amazing and I just bought new foam and cloth matching my style. They are amazing. We do need 4 more but those are so great that it's difficult to find something as good and somewhat cheap =D

I love watching your videos! I always want to purge stuff after watching you! One of my favorite ways to “do something” Is I usually always buy my sons clothes from a consignment shop and I also consign his clothes that don’t fit. I also have not bought bottled water in over a year!!! I use one of my favorite hydroflasks for my water

Our family thrifts for clothes as much as possible, we reuse gift bags and bows for presents, and when an extended family member needs furniture there's usually extra in someone's basement. My entire living room set cost less then $200 because we only had to get lamps, a small chair, and coat hooks from craigslist, a dog bed, a potted plant, and a carpet... Everything else, family members gave to us - and amazingly it all matches really well. Oh, and veganism always helps with sustainability too... I'm not vegan this pregnancy at request of my midwife, but i'll be back on it in six months. My partner still is vegan though. Lots of salads with tofu, nuts and seeds... he might even use the same dressing as Sarah Therese, lol.
