A quick tip Dont forget to put a little sealant in the key ways of the harmonic balancer. I have had oil leak through these before. I did a similar job the other day on a Rav4 although it seemed to have a lot more room but was still fiddly. Cheers

Those "little cracks" are only casting marks. They`re in most all aluminium pieces manufactured with the same process. Also use Roloc disks for cleaning off those tough gaskets..Just some friendly advice

Another great video! I enjoy watching both of you tackle each job with a positive attitude and a great sense of humor. Keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to the next video. Only one thing I'd suggest is wearing some safety glasses when working under the car. I've had way too many incidents when debris gets in my eyes, even on new cars where everything is spotless. I used to never wear them until having debris removed from my eyes by the eye doctor on two occasions. That was enough for me to start wearing PPE.

@Sarah -n- Tuned when you get the new pump (if it is not to late) poor some fresh oil in it before you mount it. the gears will be almost dry when new. The 3sgte does not like to prime its oil system when dry. Also pull the spark plugs plugs when you have everything resembled. It unloads the rod bearings. then swing it on the starter a few times till the oil light goes out. The unloading lets the engine spin faster and does not over heat the starter.

Sarah! Hope you get to drive the MR2 soon, he looks amazing! I just replaced that oil pump seal on the drive on my Celica and I never cussed so much. Could not get it to stay in place, but I didn't pull out the whole assembly since you have to drop the cross member on the Celicas.

Nice work so far, doesn't even look like it would have been much easier in a full shop. You can see where it was leaking from, both the oil pump shaft seal, and top of the lower port on the pump housing to block seal, and at that price, I definitly agree with a new assembly. I think the orange on that seal might not have been rtv, a lot of those paper gaskets are dual layer.

In situations like the rtv and gasket issue you ran into, if you dont know yet being im still behind, tielock or whatever brand it is makes disks specifically for getting gaskets off with die grinders or even a drill if you have the arm attachment that is safe for aluminum. Dont need to use a razor blade. Get the green finger disc and have at it. Thats what i use on aluminum parts and pans 😎😎
