For the curious, short track stock car builders in the know tip the radiator 5 to 7 degrees so that the air glances off the fins as it passes through, increasing the cooling efficiency significantly. Straight up mounted radiators pass the air through with less contact with the aluminum fins between the tubes and will run hotter. Water to air and air to air both have the same effect when you tip them

@LongTruong-zz1kz3 жыл бұрын
I have turbo. 200k still running strong
@Dakiraun3 жыл бұрын
@@DwithBoost That's correct - in general, turbo-charging an engine reduces the overall lifespan of the engine. If a person hopes to get 200,000+ miles out of an engine, it's very rare for turbo's to get that far. I'm not suggesting it isn't possible - anything is possible, just statistically uncommon.
@DwithBoost3 жыл бұрын
@@Dakiraun most of the time I see shorter life spans due to people tuning, raising the boost from the factory setting and such. I know of several 02-03 WRX's that have around 200K miles plus. I don't see why a turbo alone would reduce an engines life span. The manufacturer typically reduces compression, reinforces the pistons, rings, etc. to take the additional horsepower and cylinder pressure.
