"Electricity is blue" 😂 - if you say so Sarah! 😊 That very steep uphill dirt track you tackled - that's for hardcore 4x4's, which the RAV4 is not. Typically traction (read: tyres) is your main problem with that kind of obstacle, with a set of Mattracks fitted almost anything could go up there. As you said at one point, "The tyres make a massive difference" - and that's something many people don't realize. Apparently the RAV4 hybrid has been out-selling the Prius, which is saying something.. thanks for a fun review!

Great job as usual Sarah! It looked like a semi full throttle and a longer runup would have had it bounding over the top of that incline. I guess it could get dinged doing that so for your test you'd rather crawl. Since it's relatively low bucks maybe a decent used one with a few mods would make it a better off roader?

The rav 4 has come a long way that’s for sure. To get the best regen when decelerating, gently press the brakes - it will use regen only to slow the car down. Once you get familiar with the car, you can tell how far you need to push the brakes to engage the pads. Going to manual mode 1st actually just uses the engine to brake for you.

I figured it out. "Woodland" is a sort of appearance trim. It's like Audi has its "S-line" package that makes a regular A4 look like an S4, or Acura's A-spec that makes a regular TLX look like a TLX Type-S. Similarly, Woodland edition makes a regular RAV4 hybrid look like a RAV4 TRD Off-road, but not even close in off-road capacity. One good thing about this trim, apart from the great looks, is it cames ready for light outdoorsy trips with its accessory mount, all-weather floor mats and cargo liner, and roof rails with cross bars standard.

That’s crazy with All Terrain tires it wouldn’t crawl up the hill. My Venza with garbage highway tires crawled up a hill very similar to that one. It was a mostly gravel hill and that’s probably why. I wanted a RAV4 but I scored my Venza barely used for 6k less than a comparable RAV4. Plus I’ve found it has the same struts as a 2019+ RAV4 so it’s getting a lift kit! I’m new to the channel, and a new subscriber! Great reviews. You and Car Care Nut make for a complete review on a car!
@alaskabornheathen8902Ай бұрын
I doubt anyone’s read this but I have an update. In the winter time the Venza is very weird to drive. I think all Toyota AWD hybrids are probably weird to drive. When the front wheels start slipping it applies power to the rear. It makes it want to act like a truck, trying momentarily to wash out the back end. But it’s also applying brakes and cutting engine power almost at the same time. So you just kinda go somewhere you didn’t want to go and then you go absolutely nowhere. Defeating traction control is pointless since it doesn’t transfer any meaningful power to the wheels. It’s a one wheel wonder but with both “axles” putting on that performance. I found out you kinda can get it to drift but you have to be in sport mode with traction control defeated and you have to drive it like you stole it. Apply so much throttle that it will spin all the wheels. And you can’t let up, because then a wheel will grab and send you skidding in an unpredictable direction. These AWD Hybrids just weren’t designed with people who know how to drive in mind, they also at least with the current software can’t make it through deep snow. My 2016 Jeep Patriot was immensely better in the snow but; it was a Chrysler Fiat product… and got half the gas mileage.
