Watching this as a professional hairstylist pains me a bit, but you did a pretty decent job for a at home haircut. You gave yourself some layers and it wasn’t super uneven. You look super cute
@veronica_who3 жыл бұрын
I saw Sarang's video last january and decided to cut my hair in february, let me tell you how it turned out. I had no layers, my hair was very straight lined so when I did this haircut I panicked because at first the front pieces above all seemed very short compared to the before...but I ended up with liking it. Now after three months they growth back to the original lenght but they have layers and I'm in love with this shape! For the second attempt I think I'm going to stay longer and increase the angle (by standing up a little bit more, obtuse angle) in order to have a less accentuated inclination, less layers. But in general this method WORKS

As a cosmetologist I think it came out pretty good for an at home hair cut. It's not too uneven and you gave yourself layers on what my teacher calls 'the frame' I think it looks good. It's not too dramatic. Idk exactly what kind of layers u were going for because there's a few. U can also have a blunt cut but with some long layers and thats *almost* what this looks like. Also when using thinning shear ur not just 'thinning' ur hair ur technically cutting some length of your hair off, so u just going in with them made me cringe a little, sorry. If u want to thin out its best to work in small sections where u see chunkiness and just one snip starting an inch or two away from the root and then a second snip if necessary mid-length of the hair section all while *at an angle* and one snip at the ends to get a jagged look instead of a blunt.
@Kimxoxo22083 жыл бұрын
As a person who is also studying for hairdresser, we learned to use the thinning shears different, kinda like she did but more controled lol. Never go close to the roots, only use it below half way the length. Because as you said yourself, you're cutting length off so why go high up? Even though she went in like crazy i feel like for this specific haircut it didnt matter really? Idk
@TalkingCheeseBurgerr3 жыл бұрын
@@Kimxoxo2208 an inch or two away from the roots is honestly my personal preference lol as someone who's been layering their hair since like middle school. But no you're right mid length is the 'proper' way but even so u only need to snip one section 3 times at the most and preferably at an angle because if u cut straight across your shorter pieces within the section are going to be blunt/cut straight across and they will grow out like that (learned that one the hard way). When doing layers some kind of uniformity is ideal unless the person wants to go crazy with the layers hehe like me (~‾▿‾)~ personally I prefer slide cutting for layers and only using thinning shears for removing weight.
@Kimxoxo22083 жыл бұрын
@@TalkingCheeseBurgerr oh yeah ive been there too when its too short lol but yeah you can do it however you like hahah i just imagined really short pieces in between but if you dont cut more than once (i would only do it once if i needed to go that close to the roots) than it should be fine. And if you do it controled obv and not just going in like a maniac
@yutassmilehealsme65723 жыл бұрын
Oooh my hairdresser cut my hair pretty high up my hair like what you said and I was panicking lol but she was just thinning them like I asked
@TalkingCheeseBurgerr3 жыл бұрын
@@yutassmilehealsme6572 Yeah usually thinning shears are for removing weight from the bottom of the hair or whenever you see hair thats flat on top and bottom heavy. Very common for people with thick and/or coarse individual strands of hair and this goes for curly or straight hair types. Its best, Imo to get close to the root but not to close obviously or else you'll have those short hairs sticking out. The point is to create shorter pieces within the hair section that will give volume to just the upper sections of the head instead of a flat look. It doesn't necessarily have to be a technique just for layers.
