I went with the spoon nose when I ordered mine because I wanted to get back into skating and I didn’t want to go back to street skating and I thought freestyle would be safer and it looks so much cooler than I thought back in the day

I’m stoked on the room that the big team deck gives me for footwork and landing space with my gigantic feet. Another thing I like is that rail tricks have more time to rotate because you are further off the ground. For me it’s like having a ledge vs a curb to kick-flip off of.

Imo... pick the one with the coolest graphic! Ask your local skate shop if you can test some sizes and see what feels right. I personally like an 8.5 because im uncoordinated and can actually land on it lol It won't be fun though if you don't love the graphic! I got a Chems board with a tiger that glows in the dark. Absolutely love it♡

Great guide! And watching this video, I realized my FS journey has been guided by Waltz's innovation over the last few years.. my first was the 7.6 Huntington Spoon nose, then the 7.75 Yuta twin, and now the 8.125 team twin. And like you said, I love them all for different reasons! And those are just my FS boards.. don't get me started on my streets and surf-skates! Maybe I need to check out that Thixby... for walking the dogs, of course! ;) Happy Rolling!

right? Skateboarding has a habit of pulling you in to more gear and set ups haha 🙈 Glad you're enjoying your own waltz line up and more though!

Great explanation of the decks! 👍 personally i would choose either the 7.75 Yuta Pro Model or the 7.4 Team Deck.

Like @azzamfs said, this was a fantastic explanation of the decks! I still love the 7.6 Spoon Nose, but do want to give the 7.4 Team Deck a try 🙂

I don't have a big preference for bearings, but I think the bones big balls bearings are a good deal. They're the slightly faster design, but manufactured in China, so they have a lower price point than their more expensive options.

A good choice if it suits the skater's physique.

Ooh the 13.1 in wheelbase of the Yuta 7.75 is super interesting to me because popsicle boards are usually have 14 in wheelbases. I wonder how that makes things feel different
@SarahParkMatott2 ай бұрын
It makes it feel very quick haha It spins very quickly. Going from 14" down to 13" feels a little odd at first. Less stable...but once you get used to it, it feels very normal. I'm short, so the 13.1" wheelbase always felt more comfortable to me than 14"

What if one side of the deck has a spoon nose and the other side has one side of a double kick?

What if you made a spoon nose with a more square tip? So it would be easier to do Pogos?
@SarahParkMatott2 ай бұрын
that would be interesting to try out for sure!

Are freestyle boards a lot flatter with shorter noses and rails than regular popsicles?
@SarahParkMatott2 ай бұрын
yes! Freestyle boards tend to have flatter concave, mellow kick angles (the noses and tails aren't steep like a standard popsicle) and the nose and tails tend to be 6" or shorter from what I've seen 😃 (sorry to see these questions so late btw)

What trucks do you skate?
@SarahParkMatott2 ай бұрын
I skate ace, bullet and paris depending on the board. If you're curious about which trucks fit which board, the waltz website does have a list of the trucks that fit each board.
