I was 15 when I became pregnant with my first and I was expecting it to be VERY challenging especially due to other circumstances but she was the most chill, sweetest baby girl. She didn't even make a peep let alone cry when she entered this world. At 3 weeks she began sleeping from 10pm to 5am! She NEVER had a fit during her toddler years. Was just a go with the flow bundle of complete Joy. This year I turned 45 and My little bundle is turning 30 this Month. Looking back not only did I raise her she helped raise me💜

So you know there are several croc farms around the area, one for skins for Louis Vutton and a few for meat that I know of…some of these farms are on the tablelands (up the mountains) so it always niggles in the back of your mind that a few eggs washed away and hatched and could be hiding in dams or creeks spots…. Amazing animals and such a great way to see them at Hartleys… so glad you got sunshine because it has just rained here for about 2 months straight in the depths of the wet season

My mum of 7 had every single one of us sleeping through the night by 3 months, I was 6 weeks. She absolutely swears by expressing your morning milk and using that as the night feed as its really thick and hearty so less likely to wake throughout the night hungry :)

Hey Sezzy! I worked at a crocodile park in Cairns. I just wanted to tell you that you weren't imagining it as a child. A farm is exactly what you thought it was. The crocodiles are bred for their skin and meat. Hartley's is one of these places. They have the sanctuary side for the visitors (Hartley's Crocodile Adventures) and they also have a farm behind the scenes as well where the crocodiles are bred and killed (Hartley's Creek Farm) - you may have noticed they sell crocodile burgers and also crocodile leather items in the gift shop - this is all from their farm. Its a different company but it's owned by the same people. You just might not have done the farm tour when you were there this time - not even sure if they still do it. Just wanted to let you know that you weren't crazy and imagining it because it's definitely real. There is a section about it on their website as well X Love your videos and so glad you enjoyed your time in our beautiful part of the world 🥰❤️

As a Port Douglas local I hate to tell you this but Hartleys is indeed a farm where they breed crocs for skin and meat…. They also have the sanctuary side and attractions etc but your memories may not be completely inaccurate. They used to include a lot more info in their tours about the breeding process etc but they don’t anymore.
@SarahsDay2 жыл бұрын
OMG NO WAY!!! I remember them laying in like concrete pools!?? YES I KNEW I WASNT CRAZY!!!
@taylorkilleen94492 жыл бұрын
@@SarahsDay Yep you’re definitely not crazy! They have a little bit of info on their website about it but other than that they don’t tend to advertise the breeding side as much. They do a lot for sustainability and rehabilitation as well, I guess there is good and bad in everything. But I’m glad you enjoyed your visit up north!
@Iozmcg2 жыл бұрын
Hartley’s does do crocodile farming so you actually remembered it right! One of their tours you can go on actually talks all about the farming and how they liken it to cattle farming. They aren’t legally allowed to leave crocodile eggs when they are laid around the park. So they remove them, but felt it to be a waste to throw them out and destroy them. Towards the back of the park is the farm area which they take you on a tour of if you go to one of the sessions during the day and you see it. They use almost every part of the crocodile in some way, either for meat or for bags and belts etc.

Sleep is very much a developmental thing, they sleep longer when they are ready to. My 18 month old woke every 3hrs until he was 1, then he suddenly started sleeping through the night. These nights are challenging, but frequently waking is a protective mechanism against SIDS 💜

If that is Hartleys in Port Douglas there is absolutely a crocodile farm there. You must of not gone to that section of the zoo this time but you did when you were younger. They do multiple daily talks there and they do breed for the crocodile skin. It looks like human sized swimming pools with no water for about 100 crocodiles in each pool (over 10 pools). We sadly went last year and did not know that is what we were supporting. It made me think of tiger king but crocodiles.

I live in PD - this croc farm is like this at the front but they do have a “farm type” out the back wishing they show sometimes. And there are HEAPS of baby croc jammed into small concrete enclosures with tarp on the floor that they slide around on. And they put them in big concrete looking water tanks in the dark so they grow faster - kinda sad !

I am also reading the same book. I will tell you I tried this technique with my first one and it didn't work she started going down and sleeping all the way through the night on her own at 3 months. I now have another baby 6 weeks old. She has been sleeping through the night for 2 weeks now. This book can and does work maybe not for every situation but I can attest to it that it does work. Also my second one wouldn't sleep either during the day until I started swaddling her for every sleep every nap and at night. Hope this helps and good luck! Love your content.

1000009%!!!!! Recommend the BABYWISE book!!!! Well, the main point is to give the baby a full solid feed so that they can get a full and solid sleep. It prevents them from waking up prematurely just from being hungry. Sometimes a bit of comping is required, but it really helps them as well as you are gifting them sleep.

I’m from cairns and been there many times and if u seen the talk they do in the mornings with all the young ones they do admit they breed them to harvest them for bags etc. but they try and justify it by saying we use every part of the crocodile so it doesn’t go to waste.
