Our washer dryer is in our kitchen and I was skeptical when we moved in, but actually I love it, it's so easy to get the laundry folded on the kitchen table and put away while it's still hot! And i personally find the sound of the machine soothing :)

I LOVE Corelle dishes. I grew up with them, and they're not "aesthetic" but they are SO practical. They don't take up as much space, they're light and easy to carry multiple at once, they're chip and shatter resistant so they last a long time (as you have proven). A better choice for families than heavier ceramic, imo.

This video lifted a burden off of me and I can breathe easier. I’m watching it a second time. This was life giving. I have a laundry, craft, storage room for the vacuum, mop, cleaning supplies off the kitchen. I use to spend time and money on systems others were sharing/selling. But one day I felt the Lord drop into my heart and mind was …just do the laundry. I don’t need a system.lol

I don’t have an aesthetic home. It’s not my dream home, and I often have to take a break from the social media world so that I obey God in having a content and thankful heart for what I do have. This video is such a sweet inspiration in how to do just that! I love thrifting, I love doing my own nails ( my laundry room is in my garage) I have oak trim in my house.

I understand ALL of this. We just bought a 1960s home that is in bad need of updates this past summer. This was after 3 years of living with my inlaws while trying to find a new home in this crazy market. We didn't want a house with projects, but wanted somewhere for our kids to finish highschool and have a home again. I just try to keep in mind the positives over not having the dream home and land that we were so hoping for.

I love this. I ooogle over nice laundry rooms & think I want one (I have a closet too) and this made me think about it differently! I started the new year accepting that I do NOT need decorations on our table & a table rubber. Because it's just in the way & while I enjoy the look.. it annoys me more. So I stopped doing it.

Thank you so much for making this video. The topic of having an aesthetic home was just what I needed to hear. Aesthetic homes are pretty to look at, but there are some channels that I watch, and I wont name names, that focus way too much on having a basket for everything to hide clutter and tons of decor that serve no functional purpose. And I've noticed it enabling the sin of comparison in my own heart. Thank you for speaking truth and bringing us back to reality.

I live in Central Europe; our upgraded flat for 4ppl is 74square meters, I’ve never seen a laundry room. 😅 Our washing machine is in the kitchen, center-off all spaces, we don’t own a drier (though when we didn’t have central heating at another place, clothes did not air dry this well and quickly). Laundry closets (if anything) are more of a thing here. Wonderful tips and values you’ve places on our hearts, thank you!

Our laundry room *could* be a mud room but currently isn't--it's a tiny spot right by our master bedroom. When #2 was born, I realized that the bassinet fits perfectly in the space by the washer and dryer, and the white noise of either one running helped with naps. I'm holding out as long as I can before he outgrows into the crib which *doesn't* fit in said room.

we transformed our "laundry room" into a bathroom, opting for a tub over the spot where the washer+dryer was. moving the machines to a "laundry closet" on the second floor. several people seemed confused by the "downgrade" but it has been SO much easier for me having the washing on the second floor and not having to lug it back and forth- even if the space is smaller. not to mention a larger bathroom with a tub to keep our 5 kids clean! bathroom > laundry room 👏

We moved into our home back in May, 2024 and we don't have a laundry room. I'm encouraged that with 5 kids you have been able to manage without one. We have 4 kids and now that the older two want to help with folding, it's making life more manageable. I relate to the older ones helping with the littles and doing it together as a family.

My laundry room is in a completely different out building that's a repurposed small shipping container. And not in the cute way, like ... Metal walls with a washer/dryer/fridge, that's it. We live in a 5th wheel trailer ... We're "minimalist" by necessity, not for aesthetics. The living room is the play room and we all share the bedroom which is also where the shower is. I am completely content with the life I've been blessed with. In the mountains, one child, two goats, one rabbit and recently adopted our neighbor's cat 🐈 and my parents live on the same property in their own motorhome. God is good! 🙌❤ Bless you and your family Sarah Loved your little rant about being gracious with our bodies 🙏 spittin' fire! 🔥 Thank you.

We have a ranch style house, and our washer and dryer are right outside one of our bathrooms, which is right off our living room/kitchen area. I love them being right there. It only takes me a couple minutes to gather whatever laundry I'm doing and start the washer. Only downside is they are stackable, so when the washer spins out, it makes the dryer door creak really loudly, but it only lasts a few minutes so it's not the worst thing in the world. My husband keeps saying he wants a bigger house... I cringe thinking of needing to clean more house. And I love how you put together videos with your kids doing things in the background, and even bringing you things or helping you spin in your chair LOL

It is time for coffee!! Great video! Thank you! We do have 2 vehicles, but they're both very practical and both 20 years old! Two is helpful when one needs to be in the shop, we have an old truck, that we all fit in, and an old Tahoe, family vehicle. We couldn't do just one. But if you need more than one, it's even more important that it's not flashy or brand new, and we also try to limit our trips out. And do as much as possible when we do go out. Great tips, I need to simply my routines!! ❤

Sarah! My laundry room has been my "spilled coffee" that I just spent an entire day deep cleaning! It's a room that doesn't make sense for much, but we section off our pets' food, vet supplies, and litter box into there in addition to our laundry machines. It's more so a catch-all mudroom. Love this video! It’s such a good reminder of what is the “norm” and that what we see on Instagram is not the “norm”. I often remind myself of my own 90s childhood home and when I was a kid, the kinds of home my friends had. Most were just an average size with a mix of furniture was new and hand me down furniture from their grandparents. We certainly didn’t have aesthetic homes or fancy dishes and most peoples vacations were road trips to visit their grandparents. Kids whose parents had renovated upgraded homes and took planes for international vacations, those kids were the exception, not the norm. Thank you!!

Our laundry room is in the basement. It works great for us. My husband works in construction (concrete) so he has always had very dirty clothes. My kids grew up playing outside and getting dirty all the time. My son is now a diesel mechanic, so he also has lots of grimy, greasy clothes. I love the fact that if we are messy after work, they come in the basement, change and the mess stays “out of the house”. We also have lines strung throughout the basement to hang heavy jeans, sweatshirts and work clothes. It works well for us.

I love this video! As a mom I'm this day and age it's easy to get caught up in the aesthetics, but I decided before my daughter was born that when we started being parents I wanted my house to be child friendly, a yes space for my kids. And that's exactly what I've done my best to create, my daughter is 2 now and helps me everywhere, she knows where everything goes and I don't ever have to be careful of her breaking something or harming herself (except for when she's helping me cook of course). It's her home as much as it is mine and I'm proud of it. As far as laundry rooms go, the house we're currently living in has a laundry room and I love it! I had a European style kitchen before where the washer and dryer were in the kitchen, and it was quite inconvenient especially when having guests over, it was just too loud. Now I can just close tge laundry room door and laundry can still go on even when guests are over

Yes to all of these! I do have a laundry room, but I rent and that's the only W/D hook up in the house. It serves as a pantry as well. Cat's litterbox is in there and the hot water tank, so a bit of everything room, lol. I learned really quick with a bunch of kids that you can't really have anything nice and breakable or just cute stuff to display. It either gets knocked off, touched, broken or goes mysteriously missing (no one ever did it...🤷‍♀). I also tell myself and others 'it's a home, not a real estate display or showroom'. We live here, we don't tippy toe around stuff we give value to for whatever reason (do you truly need a designer vase or one of a kind knick nacks?!)

I have a laundry room, it's in the middle of my house, right between kitchen and bedrooms. It's also my pantry and the mudroom as it is the way to the garage. Very multipurpose, a wall calendar is the most decor type item I have in that room. I also got those corelle dishes for my wedding!

Our washer and dryer is a step off from the kitchen. It's basically a closet without the door. I hang dry most things. I will say I do decant my detergent and oxiclean though, not for the aesthetic but because I've had their bags break one too many times and I don't like cleaning it up.

Laundry room is a side-by-side setup in our only bathroom. It's a good reminder to switch laundry as I'm using the bathroom throughout the day. 🤣 Cabinets above store our laundry supplies on one side, linens on the other. It would be nice to be able to have a quiet place for a bath when the laundry is running, but it's working for us for now.

Pausing to comment on the laundry question! Hey everyone and Sarah. This video is sooo relaxing and nice btw. Haven't watched your content for eons and it's refreshing to be back. OK so I also wished (still do tbh) for a room dedicated to laundry. But for now, we have a washing machine in our bathroom, and no dryer, which is a killer in Romanian winter and takes me so much extra time/work to get things dry but HEY, i'm a more resilient person and asides from this comment, haven't complained about it in ages, haha.

Our laundry room is also in our pantry and the entry from our garage which is the main space we use to get in and out of the home. It's chaotic but it's also right there and I'm never away from the rest of the house

We have a 1960s 1,000 sq ft home with an unfinished basement. However, one of the rooms in the basement is a laundry room that the previous owners painted purple and installed a long countertop in with cabinets for folding and storage. I always tell people it’s my favorite room in our house😂 it’s so nice to have the designated, clear space to stand and fold laundry while my daughter is able to help and play with toys on the ground around me.

I also don’t have one, my washer and dryer is in my kitchen in a closet space like yours. I am actually happy that it’s there it’s more practical for me though 😊 I also really wanted a laundry room but actually realised that what I have works perfectly. I totally agree with the dishes I am not bothered 😂😂😂my children drop them all the time and yay the op shops in New Zealand have awesome stuff I love op shopping. I don’t even feel bad about not going to get my hair and etc anymore, as long as I am clean, comfortable and presentable I am not bothered🙊

Being gracious to my body has been the biggest lesson to learn. With my first child (now 8) I was a single parent from the start, I was active duty military through the pregnancy, then I was a college student, working two jobs and being mom and dad to my daughter. I had to keep it moving because it was all on me. Now I’m married, and pregnant with my second, my husband’s income more than covers everything and he’s hands on with my kiddo, the pregnancy and the home. I could relax, I could slow down, I should be more gentle on myself and let my husband step in (he offers constantly) but I have such a workhorse survival mindset. Slowly slowly I’m learning to let my partner be a partner 😅

I have a laundry closet- but my washer & dryer are side by side so I do have a shelf which is helpful; however, that closet is right by the heating system, hot water heater and no ceiling so exposed pipes. Certainly not anything fancy!

I love this video. We live in a cozy home built in 1950, when the laundry was originally outside on the patio. A previous owner got fancy and brought the laundry indoors and you need to squeeze past them to get to our family room. Hallway, no doors, no special room.

We have a laundry/mudroom off of our kitchen. The back door is in there and we use it as our main entrance.

I have a laundry room, but it’s outside in our carport. Many times I wish it was in our house, especially when I have little babies that I can’t leave alone for a few minutes to switch over a load. But…we lived 5 years without laundry before we moved to our house and had to do it at our parents house. I’m just thankful we have access to do our laundry now! I just do it mostly during nap/bedtime now.

Hi from Czech Republic, central Europe. I love your videos since you had just two babies sooooonlong time ago. These thing are very important to remind ourselves. That we do not need everything we see. I have no laundry room. Actually my washing machine/dryer is in the bathroom the only space available in our flat. And since living in the city centre we as family of four don't even have car and we are not planning to get one ever (neither me nor my husband want to drive here). I also love that all the comments I looked at are very positive! Not very common these days.
