The glass doors behind you were bouncing the road noise back into the microphone and making the test useless. A point audio source works better such as a radio playing music outdoors. Point the mic at the radio at say 20 feet away then slowly turn it left and right and note any directional difference. Most of the cheap mics are not directional at all, just a tube with a mic insert at one end.
