Sarasinorum Gecko, The Best Pet Lizard?

Күн бұрын

Crested geckos, gargoyle geckos and other New Caledonian geckos are amazing pets. They are easy to house, easy to care for, and easy to handle. But there is one New Caledonian gecko, the Sara (Correlophus sarasinorum) or New Caledonian slender prehensile-tailed gecko seems to be the one that flies the most under the radar. I see more leachies and chewies than saras. Why is this? Are they as good of pets as their other New Caledonian cousins? Is the sara the best pet lizard for you?

This channel deserves so much more attention and subs. Informative in an attention grabbing way. I watched one video that was recommended on my homepage and have binge watched since. Clint gives pros and cons from all sides for owning any reptile as well as information that may not pertain to owning the reptile but just information that is just as pertinent in describing that particular animal and I appreciate the thorough research, knowledge and the will to pass it on to those of us eager to learn! I look forward to what’s to come!

Gary Thompson I totally agree. I am a huge animal lover of almost 6 decades! Yep THAT old;) I raise rare poultry and have adored an enormous variety of animals, rare and common in my life. I think the key to truly loving animals is accepting who they are. Kind of like people:) Let’s face it, trying to change a person will be lousy for you and trying to change animals is SOO bad. We see people trying to do that with dog breeds many times, don’t we:) Well thought out comment on your part! Love Clint’s fans

I have some very old reptile books that have a lot of info on Sara’s as pets but little on cresteds as back then they were new to the hobby. It’s crazy how back then, Sara’s were the cresties! For a while they were extremely rare and hard to find in the hobby because everyone shifted focus to the easier and more exciting crested gecko. So happy to see them making a come back ☺️

I'd like to see you go full mountain man and review the Hairy Frog (Trichobatrachus robustus) Fun fact: When cornered, will go as far as breaking its own bones to unleash a hidden ace up its sleeve. Puncturing right through its toes are sharp claws which the frogs use as a last line of defense.

I absolutely adore these videos. I get so excited when I get to learn about an animal I either have never heard of, or don’t have much knowledge on. I give these videos a score of 5 out of 5. 🖤 Also did anyone catch the announcement 🤩 if it’s what I think it is I’m so happy for you guys!

You've made some "Best Pet Spider" videos, so what about some best pet beetles? I could suggest Blue Death Feigning Beetles for a starter beetle video, although I havn't kept them.

Since you've been on a tear with the lizards lately, any chance of a video on spiny lizards (Texas spiny lizards are the ones I know best, Sceloporus olivaceus). Underrated pets, I think of them how I think of green anoles which are also common yard lizards here - great pets but handling them much is asking for an escape, bite or dropped tail. But I think they make better pets than green anoles and really deserve the exposure.

Oh, forgot to mention, I have a wild female brumating in my garage right now. Really beautiful, and since she's sluggish from brumation I can get away with admiring her up close and she just gives me the stinkeye.

I have 2 Golden Geckos, they're just like Crested Geckos, except they're from Vietnam and they're wild caught, but very friendly, although fragile, but they do make great starter geckos.
