Saraswati Stuti in Raga Jaiwanti Todi | Bhakti Sangeet | Sharda Bhajan | Vasant Panchami

AARSHIN KARANDE, senior disciple of Mewati Gharana luminary SANDEEP RANADE "NAADRANG," offers a rendition of Rāga Jaiwanti Todi on the occasion of Lakshmi Puja and Diwali (January 26th, 2023). This raga and bandish, describing the glory of Goddess Saraswati, were written and composed by Jaiwant Singhji Waghela, the Maharana of Sanand (fondly known as "Bapu-Saheb.")
Rāga Jaiwanti Todi - a compound of Rāgas Ahir Bhairav and Todi - brings out the mysticism and devotional mood of this bandish. Aarshin has been an admirer of Bapu-Saheb's music since childhood.
This rāga and bandish are presented humbly as an offering to the consciousness symbolized by Goddess Saraswati.
LYRICS
चित लाग रहो मनुहारी चरन ।१।
बैठी सिंहासन बीन बजावत सर्व मुख रंजनी श्याम बरन ।२।
TRANSLATION:
The speaker describes being awestruck by the feet of Goddess Saraswati, who plays the veena while seated like a lioness, inducing Shakti upon its listeners.
