This past winter I spent it in the Puglia region in Italy. I rented a small house in the middle of an olive field. The owner has his own olive manufacturer. While giving me a tour of his company, he explained the different levels of oil quality. The best one sold in bottles, pure 100% virgin oil comes from his best trees. The second quality comes from olives coming local farmers around the area. And to my surprise, he told me that the oil with the lowest quality is sold exclusively to the food canning industry and made mostly from the remaining olives that have fallen from the trees coming from any farmers around and not subjected to high standard of quality applied to the previous ones. So …he said, the olive oil that is in any cans is not what he would put in his mouth. Since then, I’m buying sardines in water, remove the water and add quality olive oil.

Check that and be strict with yourself when you evaluate what you may have let seep back into your diet. I have gone carnivore now as well. A couple of years ago I was on keto and over about 4 or 5 months lost about 50 lbs but the weight loss stopped and I gained it all back. Here is what I think is happening. First realize these facts- 1) Nearly all plants have anti-nutrients - these bind with necessary nutrients and keep your body from absorbing them. 2) There was a US Senate report from the 1930s or so that revealed that Farmland was depleted of necessary minerals for human health. 3) Ruminant animals feed all day trying to get the necessary nutrition from plants with ever-diminishing nitrition. Put the two together and we have a serious problem in our food supply getting the necessary nutrients for good health. The only conclusion is to go carnivore

I did a 72 hr sardine challenge for the most recent 21 day metabolic kick class. I ate two cans of sardines for two days then was so full and so past wanting anymore food I just went into water fasting on the third day. Then I did 4 days of water fast. I took the class because I had stalled on keto and was relying on keto treats and becoming addicted to them and basically unable to get myself to overnight fast like a two or three day fast. I was stuck and felt like I was slipping away. I never would have done the sardine challenge without being in the group. It made all the difference I needed. Having the sardines taught me that my satiety hormones and their signalling systems have probably never in my life worked properly. It felt strange, but not exactly a bad feeling, just strange. Overall I felt amazing and couldn't believe the ongoing addictive thoughts were silenced by a can of small fish.

Facts about Arsenik: Before being too worried about arsenik you need to know: Arsenic occurs in two different forms: organic and inorganic form. It is the INORGANIC form that is the most toxic to humans. Drinking water and certain foods are the biggest sources of inorganic arsenic. Not small fish like Sardines. Groundwater contaminated with arsenic is used to irrigate crops in many countries, including cereals, and root and leafy vegetables. Rice appears particularly susceptible to uptake and storage of high levels of arsenic, both the organic and inorganic forms

@BeefNEggs05720 күн бұрын
Easy. You’re already in a keto diet. Just be sure you’re getting enough fat. Add fat to lean meat. If you’re eating Chuck - eat the fat with the meat. I use a slow cooker and then pour the whole think into a Pyrex casserole dish and cool it. Cut it up like meat pie. The white fat is a zero carb good snack if you are starving. MCT oil can be added to boost ketones. Butter in your coffee. Basically add more fat until your poo gets too soft. Then back off a bit. Your fat threshold can be built up over time. Ketones will go up with more dietary fat and especially mct (skips the digestive system and goes straight to blood to liver).

She ate canned mackerel for those 11 years diabetic and was quite healthy for the majority of that timeframe until dog dementia zapped her which I believe was a result of her having epilepsy but even that subsides after changing her diet which was a nice reprieve for her last 4 years of life . I think like any of these changes it's difficult to draw conclusions . My labs went from bad to good and this was primarily diet driven as I was not really exercising . Lost weight of course but once I leveled out my weight stayed constant my Jesse weight was in a very good range for her diabetic life . Now she also had an unused feeding pattern of just one meal a day . Which is unheard of in the injected insulin dependent world . She did get a mulkbone snack to give her a dose of insulin . A carb snack was important to work with strength of insulin and came to the conclusion that some simple carbs are important to her to keep her blood sugar stable . If she just low glycemic foods her blood sugar spikes . She needed some sugar to work with the strength of insulin . I have cine to the conclusion of managing her blood sugar for 11 years with decent results a diet needs balance even with a dig which you think if as more if a carnivore. I briefly put her on a raw meat diet when she first became diabetic thinking it was good to keep blood sugar lower. Big mistake . She has ibd and blood in her stools and poor blood sugar control . . So these extreme methods of only eating one type of food is very gimmicky and not practical . Stored glycogen is important and having carbs to produce that storage is important . Now you don't want more than the body requires . We swing the pendulum to far in the opposite direction that leads to problems

2nd day of my week long sardine fast.. first one, so far so good! I find it isn’t bad with a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, pepper, and Himalayan salt. Oh and I add 2 tablespoons melted butter bc the ones I have are in water. 2 days down… staying positive!!😊 I’ve already lost 4 lbs in a day and a half!

Be careful with the pepper. Lots and lots of oxylates. If you’ve ever had kidney stones or depression you might want to avoid. I just don’t feel as good with pepper. If your diet is normally full of oxylates (spinach, greens and nuts) then no biggie.

Good morning doctor, my name is Pietro, a simple pensioner passionate about medicine and its most "useful" and non-medical discoveries. I am Italian from the Marche region, I have been following it for some time because I also surf the web to follow prolonged fasting after having met the good compatriot gerontologist/biologist Valter Longo about ten years ago and having studied the fascinating discovery of Nobel Prize winner Yoshinori Ōsumi on autophagy of yeasts also applied positively to animals, where significant correlations were found between defects in the autophagy process and type II diabetes, cancer and some disorders that usually appear with advanced age such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. I therefore wanted to thank you for your beautiful, passionate scientific work and for your kindness which never hurts... See you again and good work.

Great job on the Omega 3 Index!!!! Your baseline is really good to start with! Most are in the 4% range. My N=2 experiment showed without any doubt, fish and or suppliments are required on a regular weekly basis in a carnivore diet to have optimum values. The triglyerides look a little high and I wonder if it was the MCT oil doing that??? Mine went up and the only things that I changed was adding heavy cream, coffee and MCT. So I eliminated the heavy cream and MCT during this next test period. Currently in a butter fast. Several influencers talking about it recently, so thought I would give it a try! Will post data on it when completed! Thank you both for this data. Love the N=1 experiments. Dr Boz, do you have a video on why you use your own glucose/ketone formula instead of the standard GKI?

I’m more interested in how she was able to get variety in her consumption of sardines for that many days. That’s the deal for me. I did the sardine 72 hour elimination diet but it was so challenging. I love fish but sardines are a stretch for my palette.

I didn’t have time to listen to the full hour, but this sounds quite anecdotal. What else was the guy with high arsenic eating or drinking? What brand(s) of sardines? If more than one brand, what were they packed in? Where were they sourced from? Is there a pattern? This sort of alarmism seems scientifically weak. It’s frustrating.

Sardines are high in purines. Careful if you have gout!
@Eclecticladylove21 күн бұрын
Check out Dr. Ben Bikman's video on uric acid. There's some evidence that ketones counteract the uric acid, & in a sardine challenge most people will produce pretty good ketones. He believes that fructose, which is (through a long and complicated chemical chain which I cannot explain but he goes into a little bit in the video) converted to uric acid, is responsible for more gout than anything else we consume. This fits in perfectly with what Doctor Boz says in this video, which is that keeping your sugars consistently low is the most important thing in reducing uric acid.
