Back when Hold Person made any attack an auto Crit, not any hit (aka ignored AC because the critical range was 1-20) using any piece that granted critical immunity would nullify the auto hit. After the patch that made it so you need to actually hit them for hold person to Crit I tested it again myself, and contrary to how it works in D&D5e, Crit immunity does in fact mean that if you roll a 20 and still don't beat AC, you don't hit Part of why I tested this so much was because I knew what a menace hold person was and when I did my solo run I didn't want a single 2nd level spell to be a reset later on in the run

I was able to down him in one turn with 6 melee attacks and 3 or 4 rays from the curriculum of strategy spell. Maybe karmic dice was on
@joshuakim52407 ай бұрын
@@4m4n40 No, rolls are just extremely rigged for enemies with a lot of hit chances being blatant lies. Even without karmic dice, crit miss chains are a regular occurrence for the player and players regularly have 2-3 entire turns of party-wide miss chains vs anything with a 70% hit chance due to this rigging. You'll notice that, even with achieving 95% hit chance on enemies or 99% with stacked advantage, you'll still regularly crit miss at a rate of at least 30% because the rolls are straight up that extremely rigged against you behind the scenes (it's almost impossible to consistently hit anything 4 times in a row for this reason, even with 99% hit chance). 20-23 AC is also, at best, only a 50% chance for an enemy to miss you while in contrast that's almost unhittable when enemies have that unless players are using tons of accuracy boosters with the sweatiest build imaginable, or guaranteed hit spells/massive Arcane Acuity stacks. In contrast, enemies have absolutely cracked accuracy to the point where, on Tactician, AC below 20 is effectively 0 and they crit extremely often. The thing is, however, because itemization for the player is so cracked these bouts of blatantly obvious rigging for enemies only really matter during mid Act 1 as the moment you start finally cobbling together a build, these rigged rolls become necessary for enemies to stand any semblance of a chance against you even on Tactician. If enemies didn't have rigged rolls, Tactician and HM would be complete cakewalks because lacking rigged hit chances and hidden AC pierce would make players practically invulnerable by Act 2. Even in this video, you can see that Sarevok's 28 AC which is basically unhittable for players outside of magic missile and hyper stacked Arcane Acuity is regularly being bypassed with chain crits off enemies who have no crit chance boosting passive effects at all.
