@@stedye I live in Germany and I went for the lower end of the spectrum with Shoe Passion making up the backbone of my shoe collection. I can wholeheartedly recommend Shoe Passion on quality, just ensure that the shoes fit properly or you will be in a world of hurt. Literally. The shoe sizer printed from their German website gave me half a size (UK) more than what I needed. The first shoes I ordered from them seem to fit me well at first try on, but transformed into torture devices when I wore them longer. After this experience I went half a size down and the following pairs fit perfectly and never caused me any discomfort. I hope this helps.

Meermin Shell Cordovan comes from two sources: Italian and Japanese. The Italian shell creases so it isn't shell. The Japanese is long lasting and has an amazing patina and shine. Unfortunately, it is very stiff and it will eventually crack even with good care. Meermin's soles wear as tough as JR soles. Regardless of the cracking Meermin Japanese shell is a great value, buy casual styles and wear them without worry they can take the scuffs.

As always Hugo, very interesting captivating video, I look forward to you part 2, I was ever so disappointing when i ran out of your videos to watch before the new year. As a Mixed Englishman I am a massive fan of Joseph Cheaneys shoes since Jonathan and William have taken them back to there heritage, particularly there imperial line than a certain person designed for them during his time with them (you can see a similarity between the imperials and the designers own of the shelf shoes) unfortunately Cheaneys are fading out the 208 last for the imperial in favor of a new last that l'm not as fond of. I will make a point to try a pair or two from Paris, Spain and Hungary this year starting with a trip to Paris where i will also try there suits as i do love the way the French do there solders. Cant believe i gave a French product a complement over a English one, but as you have also given your fair share of compliments to the English. Been meaning to send you a Message Thanking you for your videos as you can never imagine how much they helped me out of a time of server struggle, when i had almost seemed to have lost my passion for anything, two pacific videos that come to mind.

I agree that the Loake 1880 range is fantastic value. I recently posted a review of my C&J Audley handgrades and compared them with my Loake Aldwych oxfords. The C&Js are beautiful shoes but it’s hard to ignore the fact that the 1880s are less than half the price and , while clearly lacking certain features, compare very well.
@SARTORIALTALKS6 жыл бұрын
I agree Mark, Loake are excellent value for money. The only "problem" is that they don't ship to the USA (which is odd to say the least). Best, Hugo
@marksshoereviews60286 жыл бұрын
SARTORIAL TALKS Yes, I moved to Australia from the UK and they have some strange overseas distribution policies. They have an Australian distributor but the prices are inflated - not worth it when I can buy Loake made shoes (1880 quality) from the Herring Shoes Classics range. Although I think Herring may be phasing out the Loake made shoes from their range. There is always eBay.

The most unorthodox shoe on this list, the Trickers, look PHENOMENAL with dark brown, navy, charcoal, and black corduroy. I've seen this combination in person. It's especially good in the fall and winter. For anyone reading this, don't dismiss the Trickers.

Hello sir, thank you for another wonderful video! I live in Atlanta and purchased my first pair of whole-cut oxfords from Cobbler Union last year, great selection and customer service. Unfortunately, my budget can't sustain buying several pair a year so I'm always looking for a deal. I found an American company called Moral Code, they specialize in luxury shoes at an affordable price. I purchased a pair of double monk strap wingtip oxfords for $129. Very beautiful shoes, and they're Goodyear Welted, which I couldn't believe for the price. Just wanted to share with my fellow brethren, looking forward to part 2.

Pretty solid list, I have 2 J Fitz's and 1 Caulaincourt boot. I have a pr of Meermin boots from like 3 yrs ago (they really stepped up their customer service since then, but had a terrible experience and not a fan of their shoes from a comfort stand pt but price/quality ratio its top notch). J Fitz is growing, now with a NA hq in NYC so kinda unfortunate not gonna be able to get a better deal buying from EU (dollar/eu/shipping/vat theres that side of the equation too). Highly recommend J Fitz and Caulaincourt, comfortable beautiful shoes that will get you many questions from men asking where you got your shoes. Also on PG site, there's an older guide on shoes, which is a good starting point, so you may see some other makers that maybe close to your area of residence. Cheers fam

I saw the comments about Allen Edmonds and I can understand why. I luckily got a recrafted pair of black oxfords that only cost me about $200 and while I love British styles and lasts, these will last me for many years. I called it that Meermin would be the first company and I am so happy they offer fully fur lined winter boots with rubber soles for $275. Shoepassion from Germany has a pair for about $500. Crockett and Jones is probably my favorite brand for ready to wear even though I can't afford them right now. Yet their history, videos, styles, and lasts are just my cup of tea. For me, shoes are my favorite part of an outfit. Saphir products really make shoes look even better. Hugo and Sonya, thank you for helping men and women dress better and feel better. Could you please do a video on neckties and bowties, thank you.

Pardon my ignorance as I'm just getting into this. I checked Meermin straight out of bat and they have really nice shoes that I can see. Now, my question. I see on lots of shoes that bottom is leather as well? Wouldn't that be extremly slippery? Especially since lots of hotels, restaurant, city squares... have marble floors. It makes me think, if it's rainy outside, walking in those shoes will be like walking on ice. Thats why I always look for rubber on the bottom. Safety reasons.
@SARTORIALTALKS6 жыл бұрын
Good morning, and sorry for the late reply but we are slightly overwhelmed with all the comments to moderate here and on our different social media platforms. You're right, leather soles can be slippery at first, but are so much more beautiful and elegant than rubber soles. What I do for some of my pairs, is that I ask for a rubber "insert" in the middle of the sole (many shoemakers do this nowadays). Like this you keep the beauty of a real leather sole while protecting them (and you). Best, Hugo

You saved your best suggestion for last. I bought a pair of crocket and jones for a friend's wedding held in Windsor/St George's 18 years ago. It went back to Northampton once for re-soling. Still in great wearing condition...500 Euros for 18 years is unbeatable value. I'm ok with the classic (maybe boring) oxford style as it's not gone out of fashion in 70 years and works with anything.

I agree with your comment regarding Hugo, 100%. I'm part of the natural bodybuilding community. I'm wondering why bodybuilders, or at least the ones I've known and seen, and this would include myself up until the last year, don't put more effort into style,....other than gym gear. You would think they would be at the forefront in some ways. They strive for health and aesthetics of the body, but seem to stop there, most of them. It's too bad.

@@westfieldartworks8188 most bodybuilders are spending their money on food and gear and let's be honest, they don't typically earn much money to begin with. I would love to see a well dressed finance/hedge fund bodybuilder but I'm pretty sure that doesn't exist.

@SARTORIALTALKS4 жыл бұрын
G&G is great (featured in part 2). Carmina is excellent too (although I prefer TLB Mallorca in the same price bracket). I only know the bespoke of Foster, not their RTW. Cheers, Hugo
@James_Edward594 жыл бұрын
SARTORIAL TALKS Thank you so much for your comment, is there a reason you prefer TLB Mallorca over Carmina? From what I seen, Carmina had a much wider variety and their shoes were a lot more elegant in design mostly because they waist and the shape of the entire shoe. Most of the TLB Mallorca oxford’s I seen were more round and wider like an American style. Not to mention the majority of the MLB Mallorca’s I seen had that Dainite style rubber sole, I believe it was MLB Mallorca’s own rubber sole they designed so probably not as nice as the dainites even though I’m not a fan of the dainites at all.
