LOL I actually built this deck a few weeks ago. Sasaya is a real hidden gem in mono-green. Some of my favorite highlights from prior games: - Opponent casts a board-wipe and I use Kamahl, Fist of Krosa to animate all opponents' lands in response - Ramping into a 12+ lands, casting The Great Aurora, getting 10 lands back, and immediately flipping Sasaya - Patron of the Oorochi + Lightning Greaves + Temur Sabertooth = even more absurd amounts of green mana
@paulgruner96446 жыл бұрын
Evolution Charm is a 2 mana instant that tutors a basic land to your hand, But after Sasaya has flipped it can recall a creature from the graveyard or give a creature flying. So it's useful at any stage of the game. And it's cheap.
@fearanarchy6 жыл бұрын
Yup. This is what I truly didn't need. I wanted a big mana deck and your build brought it home. Thanks. Minor changes, but bought it. Dropped Compass because none were cheap enough, the one that was disappeared out of my cart. Added The Great Aurora, but over 90% of this build was yours. Kept Nissa and Kamahl because they are ideed worth fitting. I may come back for Lifeblood Hydra. Thank you again. This truly is one of my favorite "fair" explosive decks.

A few recommendations I know this a budget deck so cards like sylvan library are out but, you are still missing some really key cards to this deck. Mainly this deck is nearly nonfunctional without infinite hand size. Having 7 lands in your hand implies that at best you might have 1-3 nonland cards when you are finally able to flip this commander, if your maxium hand size is 7. Thus this deck more than any other deck needs cards like Praetor's Counsel currently around 3.50, Library of Leng 1 dollar to 1.50, spellbook less than 1 dollar. Also cards like mind's eye currently running around 2 dollars are amazing for this deck mainly as a lot of the time before you flip your commander you are just passing your turn as you have almost all land's in hand. So card's like mind's eye are amazing as they both give you something to do with your free mana but also helps propel you towards flipping your commander and having something to do afterward. Not to mention one of the best cards to add to think deck is sands of delirium, when you are able to generate upwards of 100 mana very easily it becomes an insta mill/kill card. Plus if you are ever able to upgrade it with seedborn muse it becomes a near auto win as mill every player during their upkeep. Lastly I would recommend playing Centaur Glade over one of the other big mana pay offs that is a creature. Mainly as enchantments are usually harder to kill this is an easily repeatable ability and makes 3/3 for 4 instead of something like jade mage who easily dies and makes 1/1 for 3. If anything though I would ditch Hero's bane first their are just way to many better hydra's and pay offs as it lacks trample so no mater how big he is a single 1/1 is just as good as he is. I tried to keep my recommendations still in a budget range.

My gosh, I never noticed how powerful Sasaya is. ô.O And so many ways to go with her! - Stuff the deck with your favorite fatties (Eldrazi?) and enough card draw (e.g. Tower of Fortunes). Stompy time! Such a list can even be build on the tightest budget! - How about alternative win conditions? Helix Pinnacle has already been mentioned, but nobody will expect a Whetstone + Doubling Cube + Gaea's Blessing combo. This should even work with Genesis Wave! - Or you fill the deck with the most inefficient jank and just have fun. Humiliate your friends by killing them with Magma Mine + Salvaging Station! i had a Sasaya deck in the past too, with crazy wincons like hellix pinnacle, but in the end, it felt a little dumb, because you did practically nothing but taking lands out of your deck until you manage to flip Sasaya and win the game in that same turn or the next. I finally decided to switch Sasaya with another Kamigawa legend, Azusa, and the deck became more interactive and fun overall. I´m not saying Sasaya is a bad commander at all, it can make HUGE amounts of mana really fast, but it felt kinda linear and boring to play the deck several times. Juat my opinion, great video anyways, DJ, love your content

Great video. First, I frowned upon this commander, thinking "neat, but lands don't win the game"... For everyone planning on building this deck: you should absolutely include defensive options like Constant Mists, Heroic Intervention, Blossoming Defense etc. It's not fun if your game plan relies on your commander doing its thing - but getting picked off every time. People play tons of removal and wipes.
@quanjano3826 жыл бұрын
i made a sasaya deck for $15, it’s really bad, but you feed off of others pity and sometimes have a really explosive turn and it has more than payed for its self in fun, maybe not wins, but fun for sure

My build is extremely competitive just also very hit or miss, and mine cost's right near the same prize point. I posted a in-depth comment on ways you could improve the deck. Without adding much at all to the price, and to be completely up front about the deck, you would never know how important certain mechanics are to this kind of deck till you play it a ton. I have probably played this deck more than all my other deck's just because I like how silly it can be at times. Lastly great content and keep up the amazing deck techs.

Wow what a weird card...i never knew it even existed. I can't help but wonder who even came up with it. I mean there is no way for it to have been useful in the Kamigawa standard or Modern or any other format for that matter. And commander was not a thing back then if i recall correctly. Tons of people must have been super disappointed to see this as their rare from boosters. Now as far as the deck goes i find it hilarious, creative, fun and unpredictable (let's be honest here none would expect to see such a deck). Ofc casting Nantuko Cultivator and dumping all your lands is a huge risk cause an enchantment removal will set u back quite a few turns to manage to re-flip your commander. At least u will have drawn several cards so there is that. You did say that at turn 7 u can flip Sasaya but how reliably does that happen? I see there are plenty of cards to get lands on hand but does that happen often?

@JumboCommander6 жыл бұрын
Risk Factor's price is all about immediate hype. Guilds is a really solid set and it has strong value. This means that it will be opened A LOT. Risk Factor will go down and in the process we will get cheap shocklands. Remember that WOTC is no different than any other company - their greed is insatiable. @ironjawedangels28126 жыл бұрын
djskype020202 in mono green? I guess you just dont?? Heroic intervention maybe. Avoid fate although that is narrow. Mostly you want to go off with Sasaya as soon as you flip it because you will become target number 1. Then you're in green so it's not too hard to recast. Keep firsts in hand if you know you may need to recast and reflip
@quanjano3826 жыл бұрын
you can wait to flip until your next turn so if they use enchantment removal you can tap out and still have absurd amounts of mana, this also works to fizzle a removal or dodge a board clear, you can also play sasaya and bluff having 7 lands and they might not waste a removal spell on it.
@Small_Panda6 жыл бұрын
I'll be honest you don't usually the turn you flip him is the turn you want value so unless you can flip him and do something with all that mana it isn't time to play him. What you are hoping for is when you play him to still have like around 20 plus mana available after flipping and use that to do something explosive and set up for future turns. as 9/10 people don't let this sit on the board but also remember if he is on the battlefield as a creature only split second cards can stop you from flipping as you can just activate his ability in response to any wrath or removal spell. Also their is far less enchantment removal than creature removal, and as I said the point of him flipping is kind of like hitting the turbo button. If you don't have the mana aka the lands left then wait till you do keep ramping and waiting. This deck is very similar to a combo deck in that it is just looking for one BIG turn.
@like17badgers6 жыл бұрын
Yeva, Nature's Herald sure, they CAN kill it, but you have forests that tap for a butt ton. When they go to kill Sasaya, float mana, let Sasaya die, cast Yeva, cast Sasaya, reveal the 7 lands you still have in your hand since the entire point of the deck is to always have lands in your hand

In the video you were saying 7 lands produce 49 mana, thats not the case. I'm sure you people can read (don't get me wrong), but just making sure everyone understood that.

1 mana from the land itself, plus 6 for the trigger. The land is not producing the extra mana, the enchantment is.

I think you need to reread the card. Each land so produces it's own mana, Sasaya's ability adds the additional mana. Tap a forest with seven total forests? 1 original + 6 additional = 7 total. How many forests do you have? That's how much each one taps for.
